Samsung ML-2510 will not print from MAC OS on Macbook
I have gotten this to print from the PC side, but it will not print from the MAC side. The software is installed. When I ask it to print, the light on the printer starts flashing and then the job stops. I am printing from Firefox. I just tried it from Word after deleting the other documents. It told me there are stopped jobs and I told it to go ahead anyway because I had deleted the stopped jobs. It seriously tried to print, whirring and flashing, but then the job stopped again. More than that, as others have said, it looks like it has not really let go of the stopped jobs, although they are no longer listed.
This is pretty maddening!!
Hope someone has an idea.
I did use the CD to install the printer, although, and this may be relevant, I tried it first without it.
Thanks

I have a macbook and a Samsung ML-2510 mono laser printer, and I am getting the same problem where every time I try to print something it announces that jobs are stopped and won't start them. The printer is clearly trying to work, and I don't know what to do!

I just upgraded to snow leopard and my previous driver was erased, so I did some digging around and found the right driver (it is not included even in the most recent GutenPrint software).
Look at the Global Samsung website - the US Samsung site does not support MacOS drivers.
http://www.samsung.com/download/FileView.aspx?cttfileid=213919&type=Printer&typecode=15&subtype=Laser+Printer&subtypecode=1501&model=ML-1430&filetype=DR&language=
Your OS should ask to install Rosetta to read the file (Zip), but then the install is quick and easy. The printer driver immediately showed up in the printer>setup>driver menu. Prints without a hitch.
Haven't booted my laptop into 64bit kernel, so I don't know if the driver is 64bit compatible - I expect not. Hope this helps.
That's right. You'll have to install the XP driver on an XP PC, and share it to the other XP machines that way, or Install the driver on each PC individually -you can't share a Vista driver with XP PC's.
Hi, sorry to hear you are having problems,
OK, first of all, you can stop worrying about solution #3, this printer is a USB or Parallel, there is no networking on this printer so no possibility of an AppleTalk connection.
You say you have downloaded the latest version of the driver from the Samsung website.
And, the Mac is connected DIRECTLY to the printer via USB.... ( It won't work if it's connected to a PC and then shared.. well it might work but I have not been able to make this kind of connection work...)
Well, if this is the case and you are unable to print while the PC prints fine, I expect that it is over the Parallel port or do you plug and un-plug between the Mac and PC...
It might be that the printer needs to reset after switching between the Mac and the PC, Shut off the Printer, I mean really, shut it down, unplug it for 30 seconds then connect it to the Mac and restart the Mac and start up the printer....
If it still does not work, do you have another Mac you can connect to for testing?
Also, the first test should not be FireFox, open the Text Edit app and type ( TEST ) and just print that...
Give that a whirl..
I had the same problem and found the solution on the Apple discussion boards. Apparently, OSX 10.4 installs the printer as a Lexmark 510 series, not a Samsung ML-2510.
Just add a new printer and change the type from Lexmark 510 series to ML-2510 series.
Worked a charm for me!
