Never used Convection JTP 5650DI55

Just moved into a home with a double oven (top convection bake/roast), bottom regular. Am a pretty adept baker and the first dessert I made (cupcakes) came out really tough and I think, overcooked. Oven reduces the temp automatically. Do you bake the food for less time with convection. There was no manual left for me. Any help would be appreciated. I love to make pies/cakes/tarts/cookies. Also when I roasted beets on convection roast....they did not cook evenly, some parts were hard and they did not cook quicker than my old GE profile oven from the last house. thanks.

Did you try going to the GE website? If not, try it:

http://www.geappliances.com/

When you pull up the website, you can click on the blue down arrow located in the box at the top of the web page, next to the work SEARCH and click on "USE & CARE MANUALS. Put your model number into the next box to the right and hit GO.

If you are having trouble after entering what you believe is the proper model/serial number, you can look at the FAQ (frequently asked questions) section to determine whether you have actually entered the proper number.

Dacro Wall oven (electric) does not heat past 345 degrees on bake or convection bake but broiler works and bottom oven works fine (for bake, convection bake and broil).

it could be the oven temp sensor rod located near the top of the inside of the oven,or possibly the bake element has a hot spot on the element and can no longer pass enough current thru this spot to correctly heat to your settings a hot spot on the element will look discolored in this area

700 series Bosch double convection ovens - Convection roast works, convection bake does not. Fast pre-heat does not work. We tried to reset ovens according to Bosch instruction manual guidelines, but it...

The good sign is that the motor works fine as do heaters. If the operator interface acknowledges feature selection by beeping or what have you, we can safely say the problem lies with the control board or relay.

Thermador over/microwave/heating drawer model SMW272YP Bake bottom element will not heat up. I have replaced the element. The display pannel has been replaced in the past, but still keep having the same...

I just found out my baking oven doesn't work and I hear the fan for the convection roast, but no heat. I had the appliance man out and he said that I need a relay board! Big bucks and they don't make this model anymore. Moreover, the microwave and warming drawer work fine. This is ridiculous!

Heating element will not heat

With all that you said, I would suspect an open or faulty element. It is pretty much the most obvious solution.

If you have any electronically ability and you are going to open the oven, use an ohm or resistance meter, check the amount of ohms and use the upper element as a reference for the correct reading.
The element will either read open or good. You can use a light tester also and if the light lights between the two connectors of the elements, then it is ok and look elsewhere.

Oven does not heat

I would suggest that you check the oven element, it sounds as though it is faulty to me.

This is an electric convection oven

I am by no means an expert, but I believe the only thing differenty in a convection oven vs a regular oven is that there is a fan to conduct the heat quicker and more evenly. It has to do with heat tranfer rate. I can't imagine why aluminum foil would cause any problem.
