Changing names on Extensions

To program the calls to go to the new location with the same extension number on a Nortel Networks T7316 phone, you will need to update the call routing information in the phone system's programming.
Here are the steps you can follow:

1. Access the programming mode on the phone system. This typically involves entering a password or code on the phone's keypad.
2. Locate the call routing configuration for the extension in question. This may be in a menu for "extensions" or "call routing," depending on the specific phone system.
3. Edit the call routing information to reflect the new location of the extension. This may involve specifying a new phone number, a new group or queue, or a new set of forwarding rules.
4. Save the changes and exit the programming mode.

Once you have completed these steps, incoming calls should be routed to the new location of the extension, even though the extension number remains the same. Note that it may take some time for the changes to propagate through the phone system, so it is possible that calls may still go to the old location for a brief period of time after the changes are made.

Hi Amy, you can change the name for an extension, but it will change the name for the extension for all the phones.

It is best to do programming on a T7316, M7310, or an M7324

1. Feature **23646
2. Password: 266344
>>>your password may have been changed by your phone company. contact them for the password.
3. Scroll to General Admin
4. Go to Names
5. Select Set Names
6. Enter in the DN of the extension you would like to change
7. Use the dial pad to change the extension.
8. Press Rls when finished (handset with arrow facing down)

Follow this instructions to reset the Administrator password.

Press Feature 985 and dial 9 even though it is not listed as an option.

The display will show Pswd: dial 73738767793

The display will show Reset pswd? Press YES.

You should now be able to enter the default password.

2 digit extensions use 120000

3 digit extensions use 1020000

4 digit extensions use 10020000

Feature 983 log in is 120000 (if 2 digit extension, 1020000 if 3 digit, 10020000 if 4 digit extensions)
Select Mbox, enter that locked extensions mail box number, You will see password RESET. Select RESET. Release out. This will reset that mail box password to 0000. Use feature 981 on that phone and enter the new default password of 0000. you will then be prompted to change the password.


So in other words, try 1020000, 10020000, 120000

To Listen to the Greeting, press Play. To ReRecord, press RETRY. Press OK to accept Greeting.

Programming is done on 7310, 7324 and 7316 type sets.
Enter programming by pressing the feature key followed by **266344.When prompted to enter the password enter 266344.
The screen should say TERMINALS&SETS. The 4 top line/feature keys are now used for programming.
At the terminals&sets prompt, press the show key (top right arrow).
The display should now ask for an extension number.
Enter extension number you want to change the name on.
Press the show key (top right arrow)
The display should say LINE ACCESS
Press the next key (bottom right arrow) .
The display should say CAPABILITIES.
Press the next key (bottom right arrow) .
The display say Name.
press the Chng soft key.
use the dial pad to enter the name. advance using the arrow soft key to go to the next letter
ex. Bill = 2,2 -> 4,4,4 -> 5,5,5 -> 5,5,5
Press the next key (bottom right arrow) to enter the name.
Press the release key when finished

You can set divert for the calls to another number. Do check for the call settings and activate the divert based on situation like.. When busy. Not reachable.

turn on feature 84.... turn off feature # 84

We would like to change the name displays on our phones

feature 983 it will ask for log number use code 120000 for 2 number extensions, for 3 letter extensions it is 1020000, and 4 is 10020000 once in this screen hit MBOX then CHNG and put in mail box number then hit next until you get to the name and press CHNG and you can change it using the the number corresponding to the letter I hope this helps
