Somehow when switching between the tv and the dvd my wife encountered the pink and green, thin, parallel, vertical lines on the screen. The picture was visible with the lines. I turned the tv off and on but the problem persisted. Unplugged tv for about two minutes and after plugging it back in and turning it on the vertical lines very gone and the picture was back to normal.
Most like likely, this is a panel issue and it will be too cost to fix.
Other things you can try, reseating the ribbon cables on the buffer boards located running across either the top or bottom or both. If that doesn't do it, replace those boards and still no luck. Panel is bad.
I would recommend scheduling a technician for diagnostic and repairs. In-home service can be obtained by calling 1-888-237-8289 in the U.S. or 1-866-237-8289 in Canada.
a resistor has developed a dry joint or failed on the data connectors of the plasma panel, there are eight at the top of the plasma. An easy fix if you know what youa are doing,
Assuming this is a TV with a picture tube and not plasma or LCD; I'm
afraid that your picture tube is dying on you one electron gun at a
time. From what you said your green electron gun is almost totally dead
and the two remaining blue & green guns aren't far behind.
Eventually you'll have no picture at all and I would estimate that to
be about 6 more months but whatever the time eventually it will go
totally black. These blackout periods will get longer and longer. The
only way to fix your problem is a new picture tube but my will probably
find it less expensive to just get a brand new TV set.
