Hello,
5mins is to little to wait. You will need to wait longer before the door will open.
To make it open faster, remove the washer from the wall wait for like 30mins, and try again. By then, the door should open with easy.
A little more patience is all you need....
Good luck.
Hello,
At this junction/point, I think you will have to forcefully open the door, just as if you are breaking the door.
I don't think the door lock will be the problem so don't break it off from there. I think this is just a door handle fault.
What you need to do is get a large flat bladed screw driver and wedge it into the door in front of the handle and prise it open.
Then changes are it should just break the latch plate on the front.
Then once its open you will need a new handle and a new latch plate as well.
I don't know if you can do this.......
Good luck again.

Hi Please check the wax motor for proper resistance. To check
the resistance, disconnect the electrical supply from the washer and remove the
wire harness from the wax motor terminals and place ohm meter probes on it. The
wax motor should have a resistance of approximately 1900 ohms at room
temperature. The machine control monitors the door lock mechanism to ensure the
door is locked. This is done through the door lock enable switch. During
"lock mode," the shaft of the door lock mechanism is pressed forward
by the door lock wax motor, and the shaft presses in the button of the door
lock enable switch. If the machine control board sees the switch OPEN during
the spin cycle, the machine control board will automatically shut the washer
OFF. This is caused by a weak spring in the door lock wax motor. Replace the
complete door lock mechanism. Hope this helps...please post back for further
assistance. Daniel
Look for a thin clear looking line in the soap dispenser. Pull the soap dishes out and look towards the front closest to the door. It looks like fishing line but it is the door lock release. Pull it to get your door open and clothes out.
Yup thats right.....please check this video:

Error E61 is generated when the door is locked but open.
Switch the appliance off.
After 5 minutes, use a thin screwdriver to push the lock to the right and then release it.
Restore the power, close the door and try the machine on a spin programme.
If you are still having trouble after this, let me know what actually happens when you try to use the appliance. The more detail you give the better.
Hope this helps
Let me know how it goes or if you need more help.
Hi - I understand that the door won't engaged, however does it show any other symptoms? Try to start a drain spin cycle and let the unit run for approximately 5-7 minutes and press cancel once. If the door opens immediately, unit made have a bad door lock. If you have to wait for the door to release to open, then possibly you have a control or wiring issue.

I know how to fix the switch - I can't get to it until I get the door open which where I am stuck -
I need to know the best way to release the lock so I can open the door to repair the lock.
I have a Maytag Neptune front loading washer - the door was locked for the spin cycle but will not release. I feel comfortable repairing it or replacing it but I need to get the door open - I powered the unit down but it stioll won't release
Any ideas ???????
That did it - it appears I need to pull the door off as well front cover to get to the switch - is that correct - ??????
