Sony CPD G420 -- Monitor works but backround is green rather than black, which distorts colors of images on the screen. Most software and web browser pages display in correct colors (ie, black is a true black and white is a true white) - but not all. How can I solve this problem? (A friend had it working correctly once, but this reset was lost when we had to reload the computer. So I know there is some way to do it.)

I can presume that your monitor is turned ON or at standby power supply all the time 24/7. That makes the power supply is always availabe on circuit boards.
1. check the data cable or switch to new one...
2. Open your monitor there is data bus cable connected to LCD monitor from circuit board. clean it with CRC cleaner.. beware that the spray is done only and only on the socket of that cable....
3. Reinsert that cable and check again...
I think that due to continuous operation of LCD monitor some carbon has been deposited inside the jacket.

SOURCE: My SOny SDM-S204 has no green in the computer

Hello amellows, hi, check the video cable for loose connection, tighten the vga plug screw, try to wiggle the vga plug and see if there are changes on the display. As for the monitor menu, this is usually not affected, the colors are built in its onboard memory.

Hi, My SONY CPD G420 monitor has suddenly stopped working - the front led is blinking amber. After power cycling the LED stays green for a few seconds before going back to blinking amber. I have verified...

just unplug the signal cable and see if it shows a warning! if it shows then the monitor is in some working condition! this problem mainly is not the monitors problem its the systems problem, it seem as if the system is in standby when u on it right??? it happens when the processor doesn't get supply or it refuses to come on! you will see that the red hdd load led will not light when u start the CPU; just open the CPU and unplug the smps from the board and blow the pins to clean them up and re-fix it and see it will work. if still it doesn't work try some other smps it will work! reply and revert back for more help with a vote!

Monitor not working

Try another monitor on your computer. If you still get a blank screen then its an issue with the computer not having any video coming out of the video card. If you hook up another monitor and you get video then its an issue with the original monitor.

Also try the original monitor on another computer and see if video comes up. If you still don't get video, that would mean the monitor is bad for sure since you would have tried it on two different computers.

I have a Sony G420 CRT monitor which is starting to get too bright. There is a fix for this but in order to carry this out I first need to 'unlock' the control panel on the front of the monitor. For some...

dear..... to do it set.... you have to open the box with due care as the electricity of the equipment should be turned OFF.... There is a main cable connected with the center of CRT and going onto a section of board called flyback.... is picture can easily been seen on net..... the rotate is anticlock slowly and you will find that brightness of you CRT is getting dimmer.... set is where you want.... actually its screen voltage regulation

Sony a100 distortion dots - Im getting several

If these are single pixels on the LCD screen, they are normal. From pg. 8 of the user's guide:

"The LCD monitor is manufactured using extremely high-precision technology so over 99.99% of the pixels are operational for effective use. However, there may be some tiny black points and/or bright points (white, red, blue or green in color) that constantly appear on the LCD monitor. These points are normal in the manufacturing process and do not affect the images in any way. "

This may also be helpful.

"images may trail across the LCD monitor in a cold location. This is not a malfunction. When turning on the camera in a cold location, the LCD monitor may become temporarily dark. "

Distorted color on image

You might have "color filter" settings. Turn the digital filters off. Here is what manual at p72 says. "You can take pictures using digital filters. The filters consist of color filters such as red, blue and green, a soft filter that produces a fuzzy effect. Color filters Eight colors, black-and-white, sepia, red, pink, violet, blue, green and yellow, are provided for the color filters. When you select a color filter in the Digital Filter mode, the display on the LCD monitor is filtered with the selected color, and the pictures are taken in that color."

Monitor

Is there still power to the monitor or is the screen just black? Do you hear any sort of sound when it goes black? Does the time the picture goes out vary or does it happen after say "X" minutes/hours everytime? Do you have any power saving software activated that would cause the monitor blank out? Check display properties? Sounds weird but have you checked for any viruses or spyrus nasties? If its hardware it could be many different things. Let me know what happens. Good Luck Tim
