As the first answer says. If you can't find out what the problem is, try ripping the DVD discs to common videos and watch them on your PC, it's an efficient way to get around the region code issue. Unless you have a second DVD player (or a PC with a DVD drive or similar) on hand, to cross-reference the discs with, you won't be able to tell if it is the discs or the Daewoo player that has the issue. It could just be a bad batch of discs, but without the second player available to confirm this, there is little you can do.
On the other hand, some of the discs may not be NTSC, they may be PAL, and unless your player supports PAL compatible playback, it won't play it. Rare, but not uncommon (some PAL DVD players won't play NTSC discs regardless of the region code), and it is not your player that is necessarily at fault here.
