The engine will shut down to protect itself,check the oil level and see whether the car has oil.The light comes on if the oil level is low or the oil pump is not pumping any oil.I replaced my engine hummer h3 two weeks ago due to a malfunctioning oil pump.Check if you oil pump is not malfunctioning.Good luck hope you have not damaged anything further like the bearings due to lack of oil.

No a fuel injector can go bad on its own not because of the computer.I have a 2007 hummer H3 and have used 3 engines on the car and the computer has always given me nothing but good service
