I have a Brother 775 intelli fax machine. I can't send a fax. After loading the document, when I go to push in the fax number, the numbers do not register. I unplugged the machine from the power and the telephone line and it still will not work.

Hi there!

For you to send a fax with the Brother Fax 775 you can try these steps:

1. First make sure that you have a dial tone by lifting the handset or just by pressing the hook button. Once you have verified you have a dial tone press the hook button again to return to the main screen or hang up the handset. LCD should display the date & time

If you don't have a dial tone make sure that the telephone line cord is connected on the fax machine's Line jack. If you don't have a dial tone still connect it to another working outlet. If you don't have a dial tone still connect a working telephone on the wall jack to see if you'll get a dial tone. If you get a dial tone on the regular phone then problem is either with the line cord or the fax machine.

2. Once you have the date & time on the LCD screen, Load the document that you want to send on the automatic document feeder which is directly above the LCD screen.

3. The LCD screen should change from the date/time to "Enter Fax No. & Press Start" Once you got this screen dial the fax number and then press Start.

Hope this helps. Rate if it works.

Thanks!

When trying to send a fax a brother 1360 and after dialing the number rings but the document will not scan and displays 'telephone'.

The reason why your mahcine shows telephone because it can't recognize the document that you loaded in.
Try to remove the document from the feeder and make sure that your mach shows date & time. Load the document again in the feeder and the display should show enter fax # & start, that's the time you need to dial the fax # and hit the start key,
Hope this helps,

Hello: I've had the Brother 775 fax for about a month. It sends faxes to some numbers, but not to others. I am using Magic Jack.

That could be the problem. Some area codes wont allow it to go through. Its being blocked for that it is not set up in that network. Good luck

How to send a fax

  1. Plug the phone line into the jack marked LINE.
  2. Insert the document top-first, with the printed side away from you, into the top slot right behind the operator panel.
  3. Enter the phone number, just as you would to dial any phone. If it's long distance, include 1 and the area code. If you're in an office where you need to dial 9 first, do that.
  4. Press Start.
The fax will do everything else.

INTELLI FAX MACHINE 775

Have you tried another regular phone on the same jack? There is a small LIU board in the fax that the phone line plugs into and it is possibly bad. Inexpensive board from Brother. Buy a whole unit from EBAY cheaply.

Sending a fax

First make sure that the fax button has been pushed and is llit...

The 2820 should have a handset. In order to use manual transmission (when you get to hear all the beeps and whistles) you will need to load the document then pick up the handset. then dial the number, when you hear the recieving fax tone then hit the start button.

The 2820 should also have a hook hold button pressing this will allow you to hear the dial tone and the numbers you dial along with the receiving fax tone. If you dont hear anything when you press this button then you may want to use the volume buttons to increase the volume.

Also remember that if you have not picked up the handset or pressed he hook/hold button the unit will use automatic mode, which is to say that all you will do is load the document, dial the number, and then press the start button.

Memory full

If your brother Intelli Fax 775 says..Memory full, erase message...this is what you do. Press "menu 84" then press the fax start button. Your fax will print every fax in memory and it will clear itself. To turn off the memory so this does not happen again..Press Menu then 82, then a up or down button, so it reads "off". Then the stop/exit button, and your done.
