You are not to open and add water to your batteries they are supposed to be sealed. if you put unsealed batteries in your chair then you did not put in the correct batteries. Batteries from wal mart or any type of unsealed batteries will void any warranties on your chair. the fuse should not have blown if the batteries were put in correctly and you had the wrong batteries. You will have to contact Invacare directly to order a fuse or have a local provider order one for you. While your at it dump the batteries and purchase the correct batteries for your chair You need 2 U1 sealed deep cycle batteries. Check with a local interstate battery outlet or contact your provider to get you the proper batteries

Is there fuses in the M91 Pronto Onboard charger

I had this exact same problem after having my M91 in the shop. The repair man said that the onboard charger was bad, so he sold me an offboard charger to charge through the arm. That didn't change anything. I finally took it apart myself and discovered that there was a cord leading from the onboard charger to the batteries that the repair person had left unplugged when he installed my new batteries.
What I'd thought was "fast draining" of the batteries was actually the batteries self-charging overnight (which they will do a little bit if you let them sit). Of course, this might not be your problem, but I'd say at least look at it as a possibility.

The Pronto will not keep a charge so I replaced the batteries. Now the red and green light flash while charging and there is no power to the chair

Mckinzie the lights will flash when charging because of the inhibit mode. After you unplug the charger and turn the chair on do you get any lights at all on the battery indicators? If not lift up the seat and check your battery cable connections the neg cable from the rear battery should be connectd to the positve side of the front battery and the rear neg should plug into the small connector of the other cable. Make sure then that the large double plug is connected to the double plug going to the controller. while the seat is up then turn the chair on to see if all the lights come on. If not check that all your connections at the battery posts are tight. Also check under the two red positve battery post covers the two fuse links to make sure they are not blown. If all of this checks out the chair should come on and operate correctly Hope this helps

My invacare pronto m51 wheelchair does not turn on. we just had the battery replaced. when it is plugged in the battery lights turn on and when you unplug it they do not even turn on.

Did you replace both batteries? How old is the chair? Sometimes the on-off keypad becomes worn and does not make contact with the on-off switch. When charging the joystick lights can light up but after unplugging they should remain on. When you plug in the charger look under the rear cover at the charger you should see 2 lights, one red and one yellow to indicate that you are charging the chair if you do not see both lights lit then the charger is bad or has a blown fuse. Only a Tech will be able to tell what is wrong. If Medicare purchased your chair then they will pay for most of repair costs. Contact your provider or a repair service company

One red light three green flash when turned on

Your chair has a motor problem. The code does not tell which side it is. Make sure both motors have the brakes in the drive position before turning on the chair. Also check that both motors are plugged into the main control module in the base of the chair.

Can't charge Pronto M91.

Hi Bob. Unfortunately in most cases this means that the batteries have gone so flat that they cannot be “revived”. The best thing to do is take the batteries to a local battery dealer and have them checked. You may need to replace them. Another possibility is that because the batteries are so flat, the charging circuit hit a wobbly trying to resuscitate them and popped a fuse button. A simple reset may help. Happy scooting. Only 1 battery charges

The lights are working, the batteries aren't. Red indicates power to the charger, and it should be on all the time. Green indicates a full charge, usually. If one or both of the batteries are totally dead, then the charger can't "see" them, and you will get a green light, but you will have dead batteries.

All power chairs use sealed, deep-cycle batteries. Deep cycle batteries, are designed for slow amperage dischare over a long time period, unlike a car battery that throws out a lot of amperage for turning the motor over. That's called "cold-cranking amps", and you can load-test a car battery to see if it will throw out a ton of amps for long enough to start a car. There is NO load tester made, or possible for a deep-cycle battery. A load test requires a 24-hour time period, and a complicated formula.

So, your course is to get some fresh, gel-sealed-batteries. You will need type U-1. Specify, gel-sealed-batteries when you go to the battery shop. A fresh set should get the chair up to about 12-16 mile range, which would be about 3-4 hours running constantly at high speed. Good luck.
