My phone WILL NOT change back from a voice call alert "repeating name" when someone calls to "ring only" no matter how many times I try and change it. Every time I go back into my menu, it says "ring only" is selected, but when people call it still says the name. If I try picking the "name repeat" and get out of the menu, and go back in the setting has gone back to "ring only" and when someone calls it doesn't just "ring only", it does still say the name. I think it is stuck :-/ and I think I have tried everything, including a master reset, software updates (which it says there are none) and it STILL doesn't work! Help!

Some how your phone was reset or had the tone turned off. Just follow the below guide and your audio should come back on. I would do a soft reset (turn off the handset, remove the battery then reinsert) before performing the instructions.
Tone settings To select a ringing tone for voice calls, select Tones > Ringing tone. To select a ringing tone for video calls, select Tones > Video call tone. To set the ringing type, select Tones > Ringing type. You can also set the device to sound a ringing tone that is a combination of the spoken name of the caller and the selected ringing tone, when someone from your contacts list calls you. Select Tones > Say caller's name. To set the volume level of the ringing tone, select Tones > Ringing volume. To set the various alert tones, select Tones > Message alert tone, E-mail alert tone, Calendar alarm tone, or Clock alarm tone. To set the device to vibrate when you receive a call, select Tones > Vibrating alert. To set the volume level of the device keypad tones, select Tones > Keypad tones.
I have included a link to download your user manual if needed, it comes as a PDF file so you need to have adobe PDF down loader
I will try to help you with your problem even though you have not identified your make and model phone and you are in the wrong category. I will try to help you by telling you what I would do with my phone to change this setting. The procedure for changing your phone is probably different ... but perhaps you will get some insight from my remarks.
This is for calls and messages - My phone is a **** style LG. On the left side there are two buttons. I press the bottom one to get a menu list. Next I press the Right Soft Key called 'settings'. Next I select item number 6 called "call alert" I press OK. My three options are ( ) ring only or ( ) Caller ID and Ring ( ) Name Repeat.
I use (>) caller ID + ring and I hear the number or the name of the caller if in my phone book then the ring I have selected for that caller or texter.
Specific for messages ... I select Settings & Tools then I select Sound Settings then I select Alert Sounds then I select Test Messages and then I make my setting.
I hope this assists you with your settings even though I feel you probably dont have the same phone as I.
Hi
The way to stop this is go to voice commands, settings, and one option should say call alert, and you can set it to ring only, caller ID+ring, or name repeat, and set it to ring only.Hope this helps,Joe
Your system has been programed by your alarm company for remote programing by their techical department. They can access your system to change codes, reset your system's time/date and do remote diagnostics. Most security system manufacturers allow this remote access by having the security system answer the telephone after so many rings, the security system then picks up and waits for a frequency tone from the security dealer's computer. Once this occurs the dealer can access your system. Your dealer may have to change the program settings if this is causing interference. A second possibility is do you have remote access to your system? Some systems have the ability for the home owner to remotely access their system from any outside telephone. This allows the customer to arm/disarm their system while away from home. This could be causing your problem.
Go into phone settings, then voice commands, then call alert. Set it for ring only. I have the EnV2, so it could be a little different, but thats how i do it on my phone. Good luck.
