Plug the player in somewhere else besides the PHONO input.

"PHONO" is the only designated connection on an audio device that is literal and exclusive. Nothing but PHONO will work right on it because old-school turntables require it to preamplify the tiny current produced by a Phono cartridge.

I imagine if you REALLY listened hard to the result you have you would find the bass is WAY too.

Google 'RIAA curve' to understand why.

How to hook up to panasonic tv & sony dvd player

DVD output (HDMI) to HDMI input on TV will transfer both audio and video from DVD to TV. Audio output on TV to unused Input on Yamaha receiver (Aux, CD, etc.). This hookup will allow DVD and TV channels audio playback through your Yamaha receiver. Remember to test any/all new hookups or connections using minimum settings (volume, etc.), and bring up levels slowly for the initial testing.

Speakers cutting in and out at high volume

The amp is going into protect on the two channels powering the speakers. Turn down the gain on those two channels. You also may want to consider crossing over the speakers a little higher than they are now.

The rating on those speakers are way too high. 6.5's and 6x9's will take 50-100 clean watts tops before they start to break up.

The best solution to get it perfect is....unplug the subs. Turn the gain on the speaker channels all the way down. Then turn up the deck 80% as high as it will go. Play a song. Then increase the gain on the amp until the speakers are as load as they go without distortion. Shut off the car, replugg in the subs and do the same thing. Gain on sub channels all the way down, deck then to 80%, find a bass heavy song, then turn gain up until subs become distorted. If you do this procedure your speakers and subs will be "gain matched" to the proper levels.

Good Luck

I have a kicker ix 500.4 hookd up to polk audio 6x9 and 6.5. if you play the system past about 25 volume the subs will keep playing but the speakers will cut out for a few seconds as if its hiting the

Make sure your frequency is no higher than 80 on the low and 120 on the high. Check speaker polarity with a AA battery(Speaker pops out when polarity is correct) Make sure the speaker crossovers are working properly. Check your ohm load when you connect the speakers together with a multimeter at the amp. Ohms that are too low = heat. See what your amp is rated for. After all that, turn the gain down all the way, turn up the volume to 25-28 and readjust the gains

Developed a hiss crackle and pop on the right and channel [ analogue connected] This is present when the cd player is just switched on but no cd is playing. If a turn the volume up on my amp the noise...

What happens if you select the CD but have NO CD player connected? It could be garbage leaking in through a signal cable.

Or it might be a flaky switch contact somewhere in the signal path on your amp. Typically, it might be a switch you rarely use, like a Tape Monitor or Mute. It's wise to occasionally (with power OFF) manipulate all manual controls throughput their ranges a number of times to wipe oxides from their contacts.

My Cambridge azur 540C compact disc player won't read CDs.

Hi...

After about 100 CD-DVD units, I've found that most problems are from debris/film on the laser lens.
If taking the cover off the unit doesnt scare you, unplug it and blow out the CD assembly with a can of compressed CO2
and VERY lightly clean the laser lens with 91% or better alcohol on a cotton swab.
If that doesnt work , contact Cambridge Audio for a repair service.

Audio won't play on DVD - but it will play for CDs

Hello, you can verify that your receiver is working or not. When you are playing a dvd unplug the audio RCA plugs (red and white) from the back of the Sony dvd player. Touch the tips of each of the RCA plugs with your fingertip. You will hear a buzz sound coming from the speaker associated with the plug if the receiver is working\ i.e. touch the red RCA plug tip and the right speaker will hum...touch the white tip and the left speaker will hum or buzz. This will not hurt your system or speaker. If you do not hear the hum turn the volume to 3 or so and wet your fingertip and tap the tip of the RCA connectors. You will hear "pops" coming from the respected channel. I believe your cd\dvd is at fault. Good Luck!
