My hard drive stopped showing up in windows and bios. Then it started to work again but only shows up as a 128 gigabyte drive. This is the second brand new Western Digital (WD5000AAKS) 500 GB SATA Hard Drive thats done this to me in the past two months. The first one was covered by warranty so they gave me the one i am using now which did the exact same thing. Whats going on?

That is a sign that this hard drive is also failing.
please contact WD to RMA this hard drive back.
you can submit a complaint to them saying it is the 2nd drive that you receive that is going bad from them.
they may send you a different model or similar model.

I have a gigabyte motherboard ga-z77x-ud3h, a new system install a samsung SSD with the OS loaded to it Windows 7 (64bit) ultimate and a 2TB hard drive that is not displayed in windows, however both drives...

Hello here is the homepage for the mainboard:

If you choosed to install windows in ahci mode, you have to make this setting again in order to boot correctly from the drive.

Is the 2 tb hd visible in the bios ?

If so you have to format the drive in the windows system when running, in order to use the drive.
A format of a drive can also be done when installing windows.
If the hd drive is brand new its not formated.

A youtube video will show you how you do this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzXoqZTxl_Q

Remember also to use the ahci setting first for this drive
in the bios ( if available )
Remember also to format the drive in NTFS file system.
Also remember a format will erase ALL files on the hd drive.

Good luck

How to boot another hard disk in gigabyte 865 board if F12 is not showing/ working in it.

This usually means thehard disk has failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controlleris faulty. First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Next - to check if the harddrive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer cannot see itas an external hard drive and you cannot open the various folders and files, this confirms the hard drive is faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

When i start my computer it show the following : " can not find bios image on hard drive or diskette "

Hi,
This error message means that the BIOS is corrupted on your PC. It is trying to find a duplicate copy from the Hard Drive of your PC. Each Motherboard stores a back-up copy of its BIOS settings on the Hard Drive. Do you still have the original Hard Drive that came with the PC? If you still has the original Motherboard CD that came with the PC you might want to use it but I honestly think it will not work. This is a known issue with a Gigabyte Motherboard. You might end up replacing the Motherboard on your PC.
Hope this help a bit. If you got any questions please feel free to shoot me a message
Thanks!

My motherboard can;t detect my harddisk.....

Hi modjoguy, the bios must see your SATA hard disk before windows can see your SATA hard disk drive. To check this please press the delete key every two seconds as soon as you power on the system. (Note 1: Some motherboards that do not show the SATA II drive while in the bios may need its jumper set to SATA I in order for the bios to see the SATA drive). (See the drives large white sticker on the hard disk drive for SATA I location of jumper).
(Note 2: Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M rev 2.x & Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M-RH motherboards use the same manual). The Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M rev 1.x manual is slightly different, thus page numbers differ from the other two above.
Here is the link for all three: http://www.giga-byte.com/Search/Search_List.aspx?Keyword=K8VM800M&SearchType=Spec
The bios main menu will open. Open your manual (rev2.0 & RH) to page 38 & read under the listing, "IDE Channel 2/3 Master". The idea is your SATA drives should be listed at 2/3.
Once they are seen you need to open Advanced BIOS Features page 40. You can load the advanced bios features by pressing "Ctrl+F1" keys. You must list the SATA drive you want as the primary hard disk drive (Usually its the model number of the drive), that will have windows installed on it.

Good luck modjoguy!

Gigabyte mother board ga-6bx7+

You might have damaged the CPU/ motherboard during the process of overclocking.

Check your CPU on other compatible mobo.

Check your mobo documentation properly & set the jumpers rightly. If that doesn't help, you will have to replace the mobo.
