Your usb port must be of the 1.0 version, and the device is a 2.0 ready, that is why its not able to read it.Get your pc updated with usb 2.0 or reinstall your drivers.

Unable to save delete or format datatraveler 8GB key. It also seem to have a virus which I have so far not been able to clean. Plese I need your help.

Hello,

exactly the same thing has happened to be before, but I was able to solve the problem using Avira Anti-virus.

Here is what you have to do to get your flash drive working again;

Install Avira Anti virus on on your computer. If you don't have Avira anti-virus software, go to www.avira.com, on the Avira home page, you will see Free download. Click on the free download. Allow the software download on your computer. Go to the location where the software was download and click on the software to have it installed on your computer.

After the Avira nti-virus has been successfully or completely installed on your computer, insert the data-traveler 8GB into the USB port of your computer.

The moment the data-traveler 8GB is inserted, the Anti virus will pop out with a dialogue box alerting you about virus detected on the data-traveler 8GB.

Select 'Delete...", and the box might pop out over and over. Just keep selecting delete until the whole virus is deleted from the data-traveler 8GB and your flash will be okay.

You can format the data-traveler 8GB thereafter or right click on the data-traveler 8GB from 'My computer' and scan the drive with Avira anti virus.

This should fix the problem you are facing presently. But if it does not solve the problem, please let me know so that I can give the next step to taking.

Your sincerely.

I have two computers one has windows xp and the other has windows 98. I have purchased an 8GB USB FLASH MEMORY with the intention of being able to transfer data from the older computer to the xp one. I see...

Hi bernie_r

It is difficult to find USB FLASH MEMORY to Windows 98, but there are possibilities.
Another thing you can try is to go to the product homepage and see if they have drivers to windows 98 there, many times they give it there. Unfurtunality you have not give the product name so I can not give it to you here, UNLESS you write the product name and version.
For the Kingston USB drives is is :
http://www.kingston.com/flash/datatraveler_home.asp

AND

http://www.kingston.com/support/USBFLASHDRIVES/default.asp

For one they have driver for windows 98 is "Data Traveller 4 GB", It should be easy to find on the marked

You can also e-mail to them and ask for the driver to windows 98.

Hope that helps
For the driver to your flash drive please enter the product name and version.
Have a nice day

8GB Kingston Data Traveller only has 101mb available!

Hi Cristina,
This is Azeem Inam. your data traveller does not accept data over 101MBs. There can be two reasons for this problem. 1. there may be a virus that has provided a limitation on the copying facility. 2. This can be a partition problem. All you need to do is to use the software called DM (Disk manager). This is a DOS versioned software. Go into its advance installation option and then accept the hard disk kingston data traveller. It will take you to another menu showing the partition styles you may choose. you'll have to choose FAT32 type. then in the next menu you'll have to choose partition size by pressing enter button. and then accepting format you are done. it will start working as new again. Thanks for consulting your problem.
