Heats up, i release steam, heats up again then shuts off after 10 sec. of use

Rejoice with me! I called the helpline and they told me to unplug, then stick a needle into the hole on the bottom where the steam comes through. I did that, then plugged in and turned on the steam. Black liquid came out and a little steam came out. I shut off the machine, unplugged and used the needle again. This time, a geyser of steam went up into the air from the machine! It was clogged and just needed a couple of pokes. I put the steam plate back on and just cleaned my kitchen!

im not familiar with that brand but i am an electrician and vac tech. i would if i were you i would check and make sure the heating element had power at its connection. if there is power replace the heating element. plenty of online vac parts stores have schematics along with a parts list to help you locate part in vacuum.

i just fixed mine tonight. it was heating but not releasing steam. i took apart the mop, not the head and found that the tube connecting to the heating element popped off....the spring inside the tube was also haning out. i found the metal clamp that was holding it randomly in there as well. i pushed the spring back in the tube and then pushed the clamped back onto the tubing, then pushed the tubing back onto the heating element then slid the clamp down over the tubing and the heating element and now my shark works great again!!

take it apart and look for some trash might be rapped around the motor,because if the motor heats up it will shut down to keep it from burning up

That head can stick very tight...get someone to hold the head and you pull the mop...


The heating element may have died or there is an obstruction...

That means that you need to replace the pump belt. Here is the belt you need and a manual you can view:

try running a descale through the unit. probably blocked with mineral deposits. Descaler available at most steamer retailers

steam shark wont shut off the steam

Sounds like the switch on the handle or the steam release solenoid on the steam chamber is faulty ,use a volt meter/tester to see if you have current to the solenoid when you turn on the switch.

I solved the problem, the metal (hot!) release rod gets stuck & needs a little push.
Unfasten the top by prying off the rubber gasket after removing the top. Remove the 2 small phillips screws, then remove the front that holds the nozzle, & remove those 2 phillips screws.
Carefully pry up the top with a putty knife, inside you will see the tip of a metal piston that the plastic release knob is supposed to contact. Set it on its front, & soak the piston with a light household or sewing oil, giving it a few taps with a blunt object occassionaly to loosen, heat up & test before reassembling, but remember, the piston is very hot. When you push on the piston with a screwdriver, it should release the steam, but also stop when you let go. Work with it a little & it will come back to life.
