Sure, why not?. I've sprayed kitchen cabinets in my driveway, dining room chairs (metal, with auto paint) on my patio, wood paneling and more.
I would suggest using drop cloths or plastic to cover whatever you're not spraying, as spray will spread, especially if you use a water-based paint.
It can be repainted, using spray on, High Heat Grill Paint. Which, you can find at any home center or hardware store, in the paint department. Krylon makes one, as does Duron. I personally like Krylon, as it seems to cover better.
You will need to thoroughly clean the surface of any grease, rust, loose paint, etc. Then wipe the the area to be painted with denatured alcohol and then wipe off any remaining residue before spray painting it. Several light coats is much. much better than two heavy coats. Allow each coat to thoroughly dry, before applying the next coat.
Do not use the grill for 48 hours, after the final coat of paint has been applied.
There are a handful of places that the mechanism can get blocked. The easiest test is to remove the brush attachment and pull the trigger. If it sprays fine, then the blockage is in the small length of tubing in the brush attachment. The most likely place is in the small plastic piece at the very end of the attachment. You should be able to see the small plastic piece where the tubing ends, this is a common place for a blockage. You can usually use a piece of thin wire to clear the blockage.

None of these fixes works for me and the original poster, like me what he's saying is when he swaps the high pressure lance for the patio attachment it pulses on and off, but when that happens, you can swap back to high pressure lance and it's fine. This means it's the patio attachment not any valves or power source, I have the same problem
just removed ceramic burners on my patio II-had to grind heads off of stainless stee bolts[ 4 on each burner],bolts do not have nuts instead they have theaded collers which have deteriorated and turn when i turned the bolt.used a 4" angle grinder-remove gas cylinder before attempting this!
