When i press the shutter release button ,there is a message in the display 'press shutter release again' but image is not recorded

Press the MODE button (on the top of the camera, marked green camera/video camera/SCREEN). Use up/down to select the video camera icon (the one below the green camera) and press OK. You're now in video mode. To start recording, press the shutter release button fully. To stop recording, press the shutter release button again.

This is a common situation with most compact point&shoot cameras. The camera has to do a lot of work when you press the shutter release button: it must focus on the subject, meter the light for proper exposure, and switch the electronics from displaying on the LCD to recording the image to memory. Larger (and more expensive) cameras have additional hardware to deal with most of this, eliminating the "shutter lag."

You can reduce the lag by pressing the shutter release button halfway to focus and meter the exposure. Keep the button halfway down until the right moment and then press it the rest of the way down.

This is "shutter lag," the delay between pressing the shutter release button and the camera actually taking a picture. This is a common situation with many compact cameras. The camera has to focus on the subject, meter the exposure, and switch the circuitry from displaying on the screen to recording the image and saving it in memory. More sophisticated (and expensive) DSLRs eliminate this shutter lag by having more dedicated hardware for this.

With a compact camera, you can reduce the shutter lag by anticipating the shot. Press the shutter release button halfway to focus and meter the exposure. Continue to hold the shutter release button halfway until the right time, then press it the rest of the way.

Issue: How do I set Continuous Shooting?
Solution: Setting Continuous Shooting mode PowerShot SD750 and SD1000.

Continuous Shooting In this mode, the camera shoots continuously while the shutter button is held down. Recording ceases when the shutter button is released. In addition, under the following conditions, continuous shooting can occur at a consistent interval until the SD card is full*.

• A resolution and compression combination other than and is selected.
  * If continuous shooting suddenly stops, the SD card may be full.

Continuous shooting is available in all modes except [AUTO], [Stitch Assist], [Color Accent] and [Color Swap].
To set Continuous Shooting

1. Press the button to display .
   
   
   
2. Shoot the image.
   
   The camera will continue to record successive images while the shutter button is fully pressed. Recording will cease when the shutter button is released, the card is full or the card does not support a write speed to allow continuous shooting to continue.

To Cancel Continuous Shooting

1. Press the button twice to display .
   

To enhance the continuous shooting performance when you suspect the speed has dropped, you are recommended to format the SD card in the camera (Low Level Format) after you save all its images to your computer.

• The interval between shots may lengthen slightly when the camera's built-in memory fills.
• If the flash is firing, the interval between shots will lengthen to accommodate the flash's charging requirements.

you might have a stuck shutter. have it checked by nikon..

I was taking pictures, then when I pressed the shutter release button, it took a long time. Then the error message came up. I tried pressing the shutter release button again, nothing happens. Still the error message. Please help me

I had the same error message, the camera is less then a year old, however, I was taking up to 800 pictires every weekend of my kids soccer games, then a 6 month trip to the Pursian Gulf, that is when it started, I got back home, took it right in, and one year later after a few visits and calls trying to find out where my camera was, I finally got an answer back, they said I needed a new shutter which will cost $300, They said I should just by a new body for $400. What Nikon does is set that error message to pop up at about 35000 shutter releases, and you can't do a thing about it, once they hooked my camera up to thier system the said I had over 36000 shutter releases, where the average person takes 10000 a year and they want you to replace the body every 3 years....so before buying any camera, always check out how many shutter releases you can get when you buy a camera

I was having the same problem.. And since I could not afford to take it to the shop, I tried everything I could think of...
Then I fixed it!!
It seems that the slide door behind the shutter was stuck for some reason... If you remove the lens.. (make sure the camera is in manual mode)... snap a shot so the shutter is up.. then gently slide the panel in the back down....
Once I did that.. the camera was working again.... Hope this easy solution works for you guys....

During shooting, or when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, the number of images that can be stored in the memory buffer at current settings is shown on the exposure-count displays in the control panel and viewfinder. "r06" indicates that six images can fit in the camera's buffer, "r08" would indicate eight frames. Any other number could be displayed as well.
