Purchased and installed LG GH22 Super Multi DVD Rewriter. It reads/burns data CDs perfectly and burn/plays back music CDs. However, video files come out with choppy picture and badly distorted audio. Have tried VLC Media Player and KMPlayer without success. Ripping one of the video files to the desktop and playing back through VLC is perfect, suggesting it's a problem with the LG GH22. HAve tried uninstalling/reinstalling, checking for driver updates etc but no success. I notice LG recommend Pentium IV 3.2 GHz or above while I only have a 2.8 GHZ processor. Any suggestions please?

The Rewriter is a USB connected accessory and should therefore be connected automatically, and no drivers will be necessary with later versions of Windows. The drive came with a cable with 2 USB plugs on one end. Not all USB ports carry enough power to run a rewriter, in which case it is necessary to plug both into USB ports to get sufficient power for the rewriter to run properly.
Later versions of Windows allow you to burn files, music etc to Cds, DVDs, but if you want a separate piece of software for this, try here:

Click start control panel,administrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll to cd/dvd rom drives right click properties then properties again then tick enable cd digital cd audio for this cd rom device or scroll to dvd regions select the no _ for your specific area

You can't, that is the maximum for a CD-R or a CD+R = approx 700Mb capacity.
DVD-R and DVD+R have a capacity of 4.5Gb
Depending upon the type of data files you want to burn, there are compression techniques you and apply and then burn them to a CD.
For example you can convert CDs to mp3 music files and burn them onto a CD-+R disk. You can fit 12 to 16 CDs albums in mp3 format on a single CD-+R disc, but your CD player needs to be a MP3 player to play these music files.

The issue seems not related to the LG Burners, possible the disc in which you are trying to burn may be issue.

Can you try with the different brand disk.

Settings are available in the software you use for burning the disk. Please check the burning options.

Were you able to write a single music or another file using Nero? Were you able to burn the image using the Active ISO burner? Did you try a new fresh blank DVD or are using the same DVD again? Try to free some more space from your C drive and then check again.

in order to play music, it has to be pluged into directly into your sound car iva a special 4 pin conector (only one drive can be pluged in at a time). copying files is easy, just drag them into the drive folder just like copying stuf to a flash drive. but instead of pushing the eject button, right click in the folder ans select eject. this will start the copy procedure. to copy music use the rip tab in windows media player. for copying dvds you will need a third party program. i recomend VLC media player, it's available free from download.com

Have you tried other discs, or just that one? It might be that the disc you've inserted already has something written on it, and you can't burn a DVD-R twice. From the error message you're getting, that would be my guess.
