I just took apart a Sunbeam iron. This is how it disassembles:
first remove the screw at the base. Next remove the moisture dial top
(it should just pop off). This allows the iron to slide apart - the
metal base from the top. It should slide about an inch then lift off.
My iron didn't get hot, and what I found is the gear that attaches the
temp setting to the electrical was missing a tooth. Perhaps you could
set the gear to permanently "ON". In my case I found out with brute
force how the iron is supposed to disassemble... time for a new iron...
There is a plus and minus button that's how you turn it on ...my problem is mine won't stay on so if anyone can help me with that I would very much appriciate
