Hello sandman, STOP!! Dont do anything else until you kill the bathroom breaker in the breaker box
located by your elect meter. Got it off? Now get a shop light, flashlight, even a lamp w/ext cord.
Position the light so you can see the wires coming out of the wall for switch. The black wires are
the hot ones & the white ones are the return(no power) You have wired your new switch incorrectly
causing the breaker to trip. Check how you have wired the new switch. You neeed one black & one
white wire for each function of the switch. If there is a green wire, it,s for grounding the switch.
Some newer switches have install info stamped on the switch. Kinda hard to see sometme.

First thing is to mark each wire how it was connected to old switch.
Note color of screw that wire connected to on old switch.
Color code of screws is key.
Next, separate wires for testing.
Turn power ON.
Tape tester leads to wood sticks to keep hands safe.
Stand on dry surface.
Test each wire to bare ground wire.
One and only 1 wire will light up tester. This is hot wire from breaker.
Look at new switching device.
There should be brass screws on one side and 3 silver screws on other side.
Hot wire connects to brass screw.
Connect your Hot wire.
Finally connect each other wire one-by-one to the silver screws and test by turning on power and flipping switch.
If above information fails, then add some photos with your question so I can see wiring, old switch, new switch and color of screws.
