SOURCE: No steam on Capresso Impressa S8
Most likely problem is over temp cut out switch. Small diode attached to the boiler to prevent damage during boil dry, or fault in the heating element itself. Difficult machines to repair and best handled by a service technician.

same problem.. "fill system press steam" but no water was flowing. The pump has an air bubble in it. capressa customer service advised to continue (up to an hour of retrying if necessary) pressing the steam button, let the machine rest for a few minutes and retry again and again until the water starts flowing. Sure enough, after 45 minutes, and 30 or so times of pressing the button, it started to work again. While I was wasting away my saturday morning with this, Williams Sonoma said that they would have the machine repaired at no charge and have it shipped back to me if I wasn't able to get it working. I've owned this machine for almost 5 years (bought in Jan '05) and this is the only time I have had a problem. ..and to be fair, I had let the machine sit for several weeks without use, or water in the tank, when I encountered this problem.
SOURCE: Jura Capresso Impressa S9- no steam
Hi,
Great solution - solved 80% of the problem I had - would also add to check the pressure relief valve (back of pump where water lines to thermo blocks attach). Noticed presure was still low after cleaning solenoid. Ran steam with cover off top (cup warmer plate) and notice water flow in clear line at top (you will see the line). Went to pump, pulled off hose block at back of pump, and popped (carefully) off the black cap which separates the water to the brewer from the steamer. Cleaned this needle and seat, and the spring too, and the pressure now is extremely high at at the steamer wand. 100% fix now.

I had the same problem and had success with cleaning the contacts in the back of the machine with a small nail file/emery board. I found that the contacts that are inside the machine had a little calisification on them. Once they were cleaned up no problem.
