Everex is out of business (To my knowledge), and I see no service manual available.

Is your "2GB upgrade" one memory-stick, or two?
If it is one, then it's possible that the motherboard does not support so much RAM on one stick.
If it is two, then remove one stick, and try.
If it still fails, then remove that stick, and try the other stick.
If it still fails, then try your original 512KB stick.
If it still fails, then try your original 1GB stick.

you may want to make sure it is not the power cord first, i thought mine was the power cord, I plugged it up to a different laptop and it worked. so it is something in the laptop..

Make sure it is getting enough airflow underneath. Laptops generate a lot of heat that must be removed.

Not sure what the chipset is that it uses, but Everex host the wireless lan driver for this particular laptop on their support site at: http://www.everex.com/support/nc1502/nc1502_downloads/nc1502_downloads.htm

The download is 2.5mb and should not take too long.  When it has downloaded, double click to install.
