Connect your HTC Desire to your laptop. Select "Disk Drive" on the popup on your phone. Then use your laptop to search for the pictures.

P.S. On a HTC Wildfire, pictures taken are found at F:\dcim\100MEDIA (the drive letter may vary).

You can copy your music, photos, and other files to your phone's storage card.

  1. Connect your phone to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
  2. On your phone's Connect to PC screen, tap Disk drive, and then tap Done. On your computer, the connected phone is recognized as a removable disk.
  3. Navigate to the removable disk and open it.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Copy the files from the computer to the phone's storage card's root folder.
    • Copy the files from the phone's storage card to a folder in your computer.
  5. After copying the files, unmount the removable disk (that is, the connected phone) as required by your computer's operating system to safely remove your phone.

I don't think you lost your pictures. Same thing happened to my phone. I brought it to the HTC Service Center and they upgraded the software. I suggest you take it to the nearest HTC Service Center so the problem can be resolved.

Hello, have you downloaded the most recent version of HTC Sync from their website?
Does your laptop recognise your phone when you plug it in?
Does the charging light indicator light up on your phone when you plug it into the laptop?
When you get the connection menu on the phone (IF you get it) are you selecting 'HTC Sync'?
Does HTC Sync start on the laptop?
Are you selecting each category and telling it to sync, say, your pictures, music etc, then clicking Sync Now?

Hi, connect your phone to your laptop through usb connection. In the "choose a connection type" popup, select "Disk drive". At your laptop, look for the new drive, and browse for your pictures or search for *.jpg. In my case, pictures taken are located at \dcim\100MEDIA.
