Vhs tapes recorded to DVD+R's

I have been recording my VHS tapes to DVD's and have had little trouble doing this. I finalized all the DVD's so that I could play these in any DVD player.
However, I have come across two VHS tapes that have no sound on either one of my VHS/DVD players. When I play the VHS tape on an older VHS/VCR player, the sounds work. I don't know why this problem occurs because other VHS tapes made during this time records well onto DVD's(both of these tapes were recorded in 1998.)
Please help.
thanks!
Linda

Try forwarding the tape to the end and then rewind to the start again, this can help to seat the tape correctly on the spindle . the audio track part of the tape is in a specific region on the tape so misalignment may be the issue with those cassettes.

also try to press the tracking up and down when playing the video

SOURCE: VHS tape will not eject.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, the top cover must be removed. Theis would allow you to:

  • manually eject the tape by turning the worn gear/mechanism. The only problem would be slack on the tape causing creases;
  • check/replace belt(s).
Check and perform preliminary visual or necessary inspection. Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Why won't the Sony controls let me click onto finalize using a Sony TV w/recoder to transfer VHS to DVD?

Is the VHS tape you are trying to record a commercial VHS tape (movie)? If so, it may have copy protection on it. The recorder is probably programmed to prevent you from making and using DVDs of commercial copy-protected VHS tapes.

Most Combo Recorders (VHS and DVD) will prevent you from
recording a Copyrighted VHS tape program onto DVD.
Try recording a TV program onto your VHS tape, then
transfer it to your DVD and see if your new DVD recording
will work or not.

VHS to DVD: audio and visual dont match on playback

Hi, this is a problem with cramming too much info onto dvd.
For a good quality dvd, it needs to have about 1.5 to 2 hours of video on it. The more you put it the lower the quality it becomes. Don't forget though , it will never be better than the original.unless you have some specialist software to tidy up sound and flickers in the video.
So I would stick with one tape to one dvd if you want to keep the quality.
DVD's are cheap anyway, you can buy a spindle of 50 Verbatims for £10.

I hope this has helped you understand a little better, but if you need more assistance, then please ask.

You must be able to watch what is being reocorded.
After the part you want to record is finished stop it.
Also the recording can be set for a set amount of time.

Is the vhs tape copy protected? I think you can only copy your own vhs tapes or what you record on tv. I could be wrong though.
