that old of a watch would need to be sent in. Send it into repairs and they will send you an estimate on what it would cost to fix it. Give them a call at 800-706-2534 option 2.

Check watch caceback. All numers are there. Upload the numbers here and then we can help.
Use an eyeglass if numbers are too small.

here is the link for very complete manual:

http://ftp.casio.co.jp/pub/world_manual/wat/en/qw2271.pdf

Download it and follow the instructions how to set and reset the altimeter and other features of your watch. Use zoom or magnifying tool, as the document originaly has tiny script.

Like anon129 I had the same problem. Those "outdoor" functions need more battery power than just telling the time and the stopwatch do. When the rechargeable lithium battery gets old and tired - which they apparently sometimes do for no very good reason - it can't provide enough power when required to, so it goes into recovery mode. It's very annoying but if your battery level indicator is already showing H the only solution is to replace the battery.
My second battery seems to be lasting better, but I'm not leaving it charging in the sun for ages this time, as I think it overheats it when the battery is full. I'm also not using the outdoor features as much, and the light hardly at all.

I have a Suunto X-Lander and i dont get along with the barometer/altimeter. The barometer always shows about 2 mbar below the nearby airport homepage. Can i by myself calibrate the sensor? This even...

Erik, the altimeter uses barometric pressure to determine changes in elevation. Rule one is whenever you know the elevation for a fact, adjust it as the barometer is changing often and therefore affecting the altimeter reading. The only sure way to avoid this is use GPS. Altitude is derived from locating 3 or 4 satellites in a geo syncrohnus(SP?) orbit. Pilots always reset the altimeter before take off and you should too. Find elevations on road signs, maps, etc.

When using the barometer or altimeter on my my pag 40 - 2271 it shows err. How do I fix it? Do you know what page in the users guide shows how or gives directions on how to fix?

Same problem with my SPF-40, module 2273, after a small helical compression spring, silver color, fell out. I could not determine where it is suppose to be located. It could be the barometric reference spring for sensing the barometric pressure.
