Not recognized by PC

I've used this mp3 player since Jan '08 and have never had any trouble...as soon as I plug it into a USB port, the computer recognizes it and I can add/remove songs. Now, without any change to the mp3 player or my PC, my computer isn't recognizing it....the mp3 player screen just says "USB Connected" with a half-full circle icon. I tried changing to MSC under "settings" but that did not work. Please help!!!!

Same problem with me. Used it consistently for about 2 years but now suddenly neither my laptop not desktop will recognize it. Both running XP. I tried switching to MSC but didn't work, switched back to auto-detect but didn't work.

Dont recognize to my pc

Try plugging it into a different usb port on the computer. If it does not work, try using a usb adapter to plug in to the usb port. It may also help if you restart the computer and connect it again. If this does not solve the problem, then the usb of the walkman mp3 player got fried which is due to improper disconnecting procedure of the mp3 from the computer; so make sure when removing any mp3 device, do a "safely remove" procedure.

Connecting an Eclipse MP3 Player to a Computer

Many people have found that their computers do not recognize the Eclipse mp3 Player, even after connecting with a USB cable. I had the same problem but discovered that the problem lies with the cables themselves. I have several USB 2.0 5-position cables that fit the Eclipse USB port perfectly, but only ONE of them actually works - the cable that came with the player itself. If you've lost this cable, you may be in trouble.

Attached is a screen-grab of the type of USB plug and port involved. You don't see them around very much anymore, and I have no further advice if your player doesn't have a USB port of this shape.

Low Battery Mp3 player How do you charge it? Thought it was thru the USSB port on computer with computer on?

Hi dave holte,
It should be through the USB port, I don't think any players nowadays have separate ports for charging. Nevertheless, check if there is any port other than the headphone and the USB, because it never hurts to check. Does the computer recognize the device when you plug the mp3 player into the USB? It might be loose connection as well. Or maybe it is not set to be recognized as an MTP or Plug-and-Play device. Once you have it plugged in, go to My Computer (I'm assuming you are on PC) --> Device Manager and then scan for new hardware changes. Probably then you have to manually install the device and its drivers. But do check for the loose connections. Ask back if it doesn't work.

Computer does not recognize MP3 after reinstall

When you connect your mp3 player to your PC, it will appear in "My Computer" as a removable drive. If it does not, the USB port may be the problem. Plug a different device into this port to make sure it is working. If it is not, make sure you have all the drivers for your computer inastalled. Also try a different USB cable.
