Usually there is a wood trim that is 1/2 inch thick that is put over the STUDS that make up the frame around the doorway. IF you take the door out, then you can take out the trim and see if the studs are ok. OR you can just get really long 2 or 3 inch screws to replace the ones that are holding the hinges to the trim. The long screws will go all the way into the studs.

The knob is available, I just recieved one I ordered online. www.partstore.com Part no. tros004. Cost approx. $14.00. Cheaper than a new toaster. Just turn the knob easy and too far!!!!!!!!! That is what breaks it.
