My tv screen is too wide horizontally. I can't see but what's in the middle of the picture. Do I need to purchase a new tv or is this something that can be fixed?

Go into video set up and take tv out of zoom mode

it sounds like you have it set to zoom a standard definition signal and that will make picture become bigger than the screen and cut picture off

hope that helps

My tv made a little noise and then the picture disappeared. The screen is black with a vertical line of picture approx 1/4 inch wide going up the middle of the screen. Is it fixable?

Generally this is not good news. Even in the event this TV is repaired, it will work very long. This TV has a horizontal problem. This is the most stressed area of any conventional TV. The Horizontal Output Transistor will need replace, the flyback transformer is bad, you have bad power supply with horizontal capacitors that are bad, and last, is a possible bad picture tube. This TV is not worth the effort or money to repair. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

No picture on my tv and it has a horizontal line mid screen

either your vertical driver or output circuit capacitor(s) defective, try this remove rear cover and with something insulated like a straw prod and poke around the circuit board, sometimes theres a cold solder joint, if picture starts to expand on screen its a solder joint

Screen on JVC TV distorted

There is an Aspect button on the Remote for the TV. This button will fix this problem.

Aspect function strectches the picture horizontally or vertically to get rid of black bars in some movies. Sometimes this is good....sometimes bad

Small strip of video (about 3 in wide) in the middle of the scree

Just to be sure that I send you in the correct direction, does this strip look like a shrunken picture with no height? In other words is it a horizontal bar?

Thanks,
Dan

TV SCREEN PICTURE SMALLER

Yes you have a problem I'm afraid in the pincussion or horizontal width circuit. These circuits usually have alot of high voltage in them and is not a safe place to be experiementing around with. Most of the time, with a problem like this, there are bad capacitors or a correction transistor has failed. If the set is over a few years buy a new one. Good Luck
