My Dell inspiron 13r laptop is emitting a very high pitched noise when it is on. I have tried reinstalling my audio drives but nothing seems to be working... Please help

It sounds like a driver problem, normally the microphone is off on-boot-up. It should only be opened by a program wanting to use it.

Have you tried turning it off in the operating system, rather than the BIOS?

Sounds to me like your hard drive died, take it into a repair shop and they should be able to fix it up.

Yes! unfortunately it is, the reason why the power adapter has the high pitch noise is because the power supply is being loaded down by the motherboard, it may be due to the DC jack in the laptop or the charging circuits on the motherboard causing the problem. However there is one way to find out, remove the main battery to see if the high pitch noise goes away, if it does! it will prove where the problem is. It is also very possible that the battery is loading the whole circuitry, because it may have a high resistance short, enough to cook the power supply, I have seen this in very rare cases and is one for the books.

High pitch noise usually means the inverter board that drives the lamp behind the LCD display. If the rest of the laptop appears to work, for example, hard drive light blinking while booting, try hooking up an external monitor and hit whatever function key that switches you to the external monitor. If everything works, you may want to replace the inverter board yourself. It is not horribly hard if you are very careful. But it is not exactly a walk in the park kind of work.

If the rest of the laptop does not appear to work, the DC-DC step down power circuit is probably shot, which will also make a high pitch noise. In this case, you will have to replace the motherboard. Replacing a motherboard is a major pain in the behind. In most case, it is not worth the trouble if you have an older model.

reinstall the driver or either defragment by simply clicking on ur start button,go to accesories,tools and select the drive and then reinstall

Sounds like a hardware problem, but it could be software.

What happens when you mute the volume?

Does it sound like its coming out of the speakers or somewhere else?

noisycoil- idetify the coil and remove it.coat it with laquer suitable for motor winding, reinstall after dry.
