Most of the time the sewing machine is giving you skipped stitches , thread ... Lowering of the thread tension helps sometimes.

Nesting on wrong side (bottom) is usually a top thread tension too low or no tension. Do a top thread tension test. This model has a horizontal spool so be sure the spool cap is larger than the spool and threaded per machine instruction. See Brother website.

It sounds like it has not been correctly threaded or the tension is too tight. Check the tension discs for bits of thread that may have broken off and be causing a blockage.
Re-thread the top threads making sure the pressure foot is up before passing the thread through the tension discs!
Then check the bobbin is running correctly by pulling on the tail of the thread. The bobbin should rotate clockwise. Put the bobbin case in and make sure it is seated correctly.

If all this fails try replacing the needle. A blunt needle can cause all sorts of weird problems

Brother se 2700 will not sew on knit fabric

Check that you are using a ballpoint needle, designed for knits. Also, be sure that the thread is not 100% cotton thread.

I'm new to embroidering. I have BrotherSE-270 Disney. I have read through the manuel several times and am confused about the bobbin thread. Do I use tread specficaly for embrodering or will regular thread...

Your machine probably came with brother embroidery bobbin thread (one spool, white)...I used it until it was gone and did buy more embroidery bobbin thread at a regular superstore (it wasn't brother brand though)...however, I have since used regular thread and not had problems. HOWEVER, be sure it is good, quality thread - none of that $.50/spool stuff. That knots up and simply doesn't look good if it does work. Good luck!

Tangled thread under metal plate

-The bobbin is too lose. Tight the adjustment screw on the bobbin case a little more and test, keep doing until it's good.
-Or possibly the upper threat is too lose so it won't pulls the bottom up as well.
-Check it out and adjust it.

Good luck

My Disney Brother SE-27OD Embroidery Sewing Machine/trouble

Make sure that your needle is put in the correct way, there is a groove in the front of the needle, check with your finger nail, this is usually to be facing you, and make sure the thread is going through the tension holder correctly do not have the foot down when you are threading the machine,as this stops the thread from going through the needle tension holder.
