I have had mine repaired for this exact problem several times. First it was 164589 + Filter Kit+Fuse 6.3A+IC3107; Parts $60 Labour $125. Next unknown repair $208; next 20787 diode+1000MF/50VDCfilter+10R resistor; total $247;
next 213985 tuner $305;
next 164874 diode+160085 diode+++; total $209
Etc. ad nauseum. A lemon from the start. Went out and bought a 52" plasma on sale for less than it was costing me for the darned repairs every 12-18 months.

Tv turns itself off as soon as it is turned on. it is a 32" proscan hdtv and dvd combo.tried switching power cord,power supply, way it is powered up nothing has worked.

This problem usually occurs as a result of overheating in units. The unit is meant to be placed in a location where enough breeze will be accessible to avoid over heating in the unit.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

I bought a new 27 inch proscan in 1991. It was

This is probably a tv with the "ctc-169" chassis. The BEST modern chassis RCA built. I own 2 of them that I USE, one is a 32" CONSOLE, a lot like your 27" set the other is a projo. I would keep BOTH of them ANY day--over ANY of the cheap, unreliable, fragile flat--panel sets today!!

FIX your set!! If the picture was good--it still will be--these sets had GREAT tubes in them. Most likely--a power supply isue with a couple of caps in the power supply, perhaps the controller chip for the chopper transistor, nothing likely serious. Probably about 150 repair--or less.

My tv. proscan mod. ps50700 won`t turn on

The PS50700 uses the 195 series chassis. The most common cause of the set not starting up is a shorted flyback (high voltage) transformer. Sometimes a shorted flyback will also cause the horizontal output transistor to short too. These parts need to be tested and/or replaced by a tech familiar with the RCA 195 chassis.
