Battery charge indicator seems faulty.

Battery indicator (on Pocket Loox 410) shows that the battery charge depletes rapidly. Replaced the battery. Charged the battery overnight. Battery charge led flashed continuosly. Removed charger and checked battery charge in system-> power. Battery 95% charged. Left it to charge for a while longer. Checked the battery charge again . Now down to 10 % ?!. It seems to get above 95% charge and then indicate that the battery is flat. Measured the battery voltage at different stages ogf the charge cycle . Measured 4.2V under no load even though the charge indicater shows anywhere from 2% to over 80%. Convinced that the battery is fully charged but that the charge indicator is faulty. Did a hard reset and tried again. same result. The unit goes into suspend mode when it indicates low and is not on charge -as per the manual - even though the battery is at 4.2v. When it indicated 95% I could use it ok.

Solved own problem. Bad conection between pcb and battery contact pins. Reheat each battery pin on the pcb carefully until solder reflow occurs then remove heat. PDA now repaired

indicates faulty wiring and faulty alternator
have a load test done on the battery
have an auto electrician do a full charging system check
charging voltage should be 14.5-14.8 volts DC
battery voltage should be 12-13.5 volts dropping to 11 volts when cranking the engine
make sure that the drive belt tension is correct and the belt is in good condition

I have had this charging overnight but it won't charge. What should I do?

Hello Friend,
It depends on what you mean by charging overnight.
1. When you connect the charger, it shows on the phone that it's charging but after a while if you unplug the charger, it's still not charged: if it's the case, that means the battery is dead and needs to be replaced.
2. When you connect the charger, it doesn't show the phone charging: in this case it can be the charger brocken or the phone charge connector is faulty. you can verify that by moving the charger connector a little bit and see if it will start charging, if not you can try with another charger. if it doesn't charge even with another charger, at this time i will say for sure that the phone charge connector is faulty and needs a repair.
Best Regards,

Motorola CP040 charging time

The rapid rate charger WPLN41__ will typically charge a battery in 90-120 minutes. Your battery should be depleted or nearly depleted when you place it in the charging stand. Be certain your radio is always turned off, when charging an attached battery. The NiMH battery will generally go 12-16 hours on a charge when new. If you work an eight hour shift, you might see if the radio will go 2 days on a charge. Later as the battery ages, you will need to charge it nightly. (Think of putting it in the charger as putting it to bed at night.)

Rapid charging is necessary on NiMH and Li-Ion batteries. They require a "hotter" charger, a fast rate, to completely charge the battery. It will not harm this chemistry of battery. It is safe to leave the battery on the charger overnight, or for a weekend. We would not recommend leaving the battery on the charger longer periods of time, as that will age the battery and reduce its life.

(Sidenote: Frequent rapid charging will however reduce the life of a NiCD battery.)

Loox 710 will not turn on or charge, i have been charging the battery for over 24 hours, and still nothing, is there an internal battery and how to i get to it to change it

If you have the right charger with cable and can plug in at the bottom of the LOOX,then You can use the 710 WITHout removal battery (LiON). The internal backup battery
will charge then The internal backup battery is NiHm and will sometimes NOT recognized by WindowsMobile. P.lease check several times energy state in WindowsMobile
(green bar shows percentage). If you have craddle and charger you can try to charge removal battery in slot behind plastic shield.

If you not have the rigth charger try to lend a ASUS MyPal A serie (A632 aso) it will fit

No POWER ON out-of-the-box & after initial battery charging.

Even if the battery is dead it should still be able to boot on external power.  I think the best bet, though slow, would be warranty.
