Have a panasonic RR930 microcassette transcriber. Right now the foot pedal will not allow rewind though when I press the pedal I can hear it engage. I can, however, rewind right on the unit itself. The forward on the pedal works fine. Could I have a problem with the pedal or the actual unit?

It sounds to me that you might have a mechanical problem in the machine. I am not familiar with this machine, but I have worked on lots of tape machines. The belts and rubber pieces can get slick or stretched causing problems.

Probably has a bad sensor belt (small belt attached to silver and black reflective wheel).

Hold down the 'Erase' button and press the 'Rewind' button. It will erase the tapes as it rewinds.

Make sure the button for back space is not at max is the second button from the right side if problem don’t get fix unplug the pedal from unit and try to play and stop if unit work Ok the problem is your pedal. Needs to be replaced.

There is a rubber drive belt that needs to be replaced, Panasonic part RDV101YA. This place says they have them:

I've never had to work on one of these so I can't say exactly what you might have to remove to get to the old belt and pulleys it rides on. But it's usually not too bad of a job to change a belt.

Sounds like a feed back, make sure the mike is off, otherwise it gives a high pitched sound.

If the foot pedal is pluged in, press the play button and then you should be able to activate it with the pedal.

This unit is driven by belts. I would suspect that the belts have dried up a bit and are slipping. Replacing the belts should resolve the problem.
