First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If this does not work then reboot and go to theBIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn'tdetect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Next - to determine if thehard drive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer cannot see itas an external hard drive and you cannot open the various folders and files, this confirms the hard drive is faulty. The hard drive needs to bereplaces in the laptop and Windows installed and the laptop's device driversand your programs etc to get a functioning laptop again.

You need an extra cd, called dell server assistant. you can download id from dell, or download as a torrent file. there is a menu that says install server 2003, server 2003 x64, windows 2000,or install linux.
choose your option and follow the menu, and your server is ready to use.
you also need the installation cd of server 2003 or any thing that is on the menu.

Cannot boot from usb. dell serverPoweredge 2650

Try entering the BIOS (usually by hitting F2 or Delete during the boot up sequence) and looking under the boot menu for the USB drive. Some older systems cannot boot from USB. You might have improperly formatted the USB drive. What are you trying to boot into?

Can't detect Hard drive

Hello,

Be sure to check your cable connection both at the drives and the motherboard. You may have to swicth then out with known good cable. If you do use new cable and get the same results, you may have a bad hard drive. Also, after checking the cable connection, recheck your BIOS setting to make sure the system 'see' the hard drives.

Good Luck.

Hard drive not detected. When i trying to install Win 2003 Server Std edition. It does not detect the hard drive.

you will need to download the RAID drivers from the Dell website
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R74082&SystemID=PWE_PNT_P3C_2450&os=WNT5&osl=en&deviceid=1374&devlib=0&typecnt=5&vercnt=7&formatcnt=2&fileid=126163 and load them onto a floppy drive.

Then when installing the server press F6 to install other drivers this will load the PEC drivers and W2k3 will then see your drives

Do not try to load the drivers from a USB as W2k3 is "preset" to only accept drivers from a floppy drive unlike WIndows server 2008

Hope this helps

How to install hyper v on dell 2650. Can Windows 2008 with hyper v be installed on a Dell 2650?

Hello,

Yes, Server 2008 will install on the 2650 as long as you make sure you have enough RAM and hard drive space. Once you have Server 08 installed, you will have a to-do list to help with setting up hyper-v.

Good Luck

Dell Poweredge 2650 - How do I disable RAC

If this is a security concern then there is nothing to be concerned about so long as you do not plug a network cable into the RAC.

Otherwise, if it is an add-in card just remove it.

If you can't remove it there should be a way of accessing it when the server starts up. You should be able to go into the configuration and disable its functions.

I hope this helps.

How to transfer OS and data to newer Poweredge server

The new RAID controller should read the data from the drives and work without difficulty. You will need to transfer all drives at the same time. Be sure to put the drives in the same spot in the new server.

Here are the bad news parts:

1. Your data is at risk. Make sure you do a good backup before trying this.

2. It is far more likely that your performance problems come from disk access or memory than the actual processor. If this is the case, then you probably won't be helping yourself with the migration. If you haven't already done so, analyze what is causing your performance bottleneck to make sure you are going in the right direction.
