I have just installed Roxio EMC10 on my desktop PC (Windows XP). Clicking on any of the Roxio programs including the icon for EMC10 just turns the mouse arrow into the hourglass icon for less than a second or so and then the hourglass icon disappears. Would appreciate help Kind regards Barrie

If you are running any version of Windows, it's an easy fix, don't worry-
  1. Delete your desktop icon
  2. Using Windows Explorer, go to your C:\Program Files\Roxio folder
  3. Open the Roxio folder, and find the Creator.exe file
  4. Right click on the .exe file, 'create shortcut'

No desktop icon. can't run Roxio Creator 2009.

There should be an option when you install Roxio to place a shortcut on the desktop. Make sure that is checked when you install.
Alternately you can go into the program folder and drag the program file onto the desk top and select "Create shortcut here". Let me know if this helps, CompuWayne

Getting older programs to run on Windows XP Getting older programs to run on Windows XP Most programs run properly on Windows XP. The exceptions are some older games and other programs that were written specifically for an earlier version of Windows. To run your program on Windows XP, try the following:
  1. Run the Program Compatibility Wizard. As an alternative, you can set the compatibility properties manually.
  2. Update your program, drivers, or hardware.
These options are covered in detail below.
The Program Compatibility Wizard This wizard prompts you to test your program in different modes (environments) and with various settings. For example, if the program was originally designed to run on Windows 95, set the compatibility mode to Windows 95 and try running your program again. If successful, the program will start in that mode each time. The wizard also allows you to try different settings, such as switching the display to 256 colors and the screen resolution to 640 x 480 pixels.
If compatibility problems prevent you from installing a program on Windows XP, run the Program Compatibility Wizard on the setup file for the program. The file might be called Setup.exe or something similar, and is probably located on the Installation disc for the program.
To run the Program Compatibility Wizard
  1. Start the Program Compatibility Wizard.
  2. Follow the instructions in the wizard.

Your computer is a good one, so is Roxio a good software. but it seems like a compatability problem. Roxio likes Vista, but does windows like Roxio? I would run a compatability test, windows will do it free.

Even when not editing with Roxio Creator 10, I get the message: "RoxMMTrayApp Module has encountered a problem and needs to close." Etc. Why?

Seems to be a common problem with other users also. Something is crashing when windows starts up. Try disabling it at startup like shown here at http://forums.support.roxio.com/lofiversion/index.php/t25600.html . If that doesn't fix it, it might just need an update. Check out http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/emc10/software_updates.html for updates to your software.

I am unable to open easycreator suite 10, but can oen the other applications i have windows xp

I am a relatively savvy user.. wish I would have researched user opinions before buying this package from my warehouse membership store or from anyone for that matter! Replacing EMC9, installation was difficult to complete as the wizard did not successfully uninstall certain modules (update manager) of the previous program. After installation finished, program suite would not launch from desktop icon or individual program listings. solution provided was a tedious, time-comsuming complete "clean install procedure" not for the faint of heart. It did seem to work allowing me to launch the program - once. I use Norton Systemworks and always run One Button Checkup (OBC) to keep the PC humming. OBC corrected registry "problems" and once again, EMC10 will not work! Online chat reveals that I will need to reinstall EMC10 every time after using OBC!! "OBC removes a registry key that EMC10 needs to function - we are working on a patch" If I could, I would return for a refund, as it is, I will refrain from using until they make it work correctly.
