My Casio EX-Z18 charger light keeps on flashing. When I put the battery in the camera, it doesn't turn on. What is wrong?

I found this while trying to solve my exact same problem.. It worked for me after about 7 times. Some other people on the site said it worked for them after 20 times. Good luck!

My NP 20 gave me the flashing red light of death and I got Casio to replace it. Then I had the same problem with my second NP 20 so I dug around for a way to fix it and I found the following advice on a site called FixYa. It worked instantly and I didn't risk ruining my battery.

This is a firmware program with the camera and it will need to be updated. The company will do this for $50

It happened to me. I fixed it by luck . Here is my way . fully charge the camera till the led turns green. "IMPORTANT" unplug the power of the charger first, then remove the camera from the cradle . Then I pressed power button, it worked.

How old is the battery? Keep in mind they aren't meant to last for more than a year or two, regardless of how often they're used. Generic replacements are actually inexpensive these days. Here's some from Amazon:

Your battery is defective. Call tech support and tell them you have the EXZ75 but DO NOT tell them that you have had it for over 2 years and they will replace it for you for free. :)

Casio batteries have a issue and are very weak you should not let it get below 5% when it is this low the camera will come on say battery is low and turn off. if it remains this or lower the battery can go out the good thing is you can get them really cheap off ebay.

I have read on Amazon (in a customer review) that there is a known fault with Casio batteries. If the battery is fully discharged (i.e. when new!!!) it won't charge. The reviewer said a free replacement could be obtained from Casio? Either that or buy a new battery - about £6 I believe.

I had the same problem-and no, you aren't doing anything wrong-its a bad battery.
Call the casio people and they will send you a new one
