Sounds like a threading problem. Thread the machine all the way to the needle but not the needle eye. Then pull on the thread and lift the presser foot up and down. You should have tension when it is down and no tension when it is up. If this is the case try sewing, should fix the problem. If this is not the case your machine will need to be adjusted buy your pfaff dealer.
Hope this helps

Sometimes the use of two different weights or types of thread (top and bobbin) throws off the tension in stitches. Try using same thread in both places and re thread machine. Try stitching now.

Threading up a riccar reliant 53 and the understitch is loose. How do I fix it.

Increase the top tension. It should pull up the bobbin thread into the fabric.

The bottom tension on my Pfaff 2056 sewing machine is loose and keeps jamming up.

check the top tension try a 3 or 4 but I wouldn't go any higher than 5

also put in a new needle

clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for loose threads & lint

make sure the thread doesn't come off the thread take up lever

make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly

Using a twin needle for the first time - topstitch is fine but understitch is loose - i can pull the thread and stitches come out. thank you.

Is your bobbin thread actually under tension? check that it is fully into the tension spring, it sounds like its not tensioned fully.

Normally with a twin needle you'll get a little zigzag showing on the underside but the stitches should be secure.

I have a Bernette 65 and when I sew, the stitch is loose and sometimes loopy on one side. The stitches are crooked on one side and the other side they are loose and the understitch is visible. What do I...

check the thread tension
check the needle to make sure it's the right one for the thread
to check the needle to if it's work with the thread
here's how to check
cut a 8 inch piece of the thread your going to use for the project, take the needle your going to use out of the machine or package, & insert the 6-8 inch thread into the eye of needle
& lift on side of the thread up to a 45 degree angle & if needle is the right size needle for the thread, it will side down the thread easily,,but if it hangs up you need a needle 1 size larger

I have an ancient Brother VX -1200 sewing machine which I have used for 16 years! The understitches are all loose and I looked up the manual and started trying to adjust the tension and I have made matters...

checked the to see if then needle is bent-thread loops on the bottom could be caused by 2 things--a blunt needle or tension, check needle first--if it is even slightly rough or blunt at the tip change it.
is the needle in backwards

Loose, loopy, understitching.

Generally caused by lack of tension on the upper thread. Thread machine normally and pull the needle thread sideways from the needle with the presser foot up. It should pull smoothly. Lower the presser foot and it should become hard to pull and the needle will bend. If this doesn't happen, the upper thread is not in the tension assembly and you should rethread properly. Also, make sure thread is in the take up lever that moves up and down on the front of the machine while sewing.

Old bernina 830 stitching problem: tight

Sounds like you need to adjust the tension. Probably a good idea to oil this older machine before you adjust. Also look for and clean out any lint or debris in bobbin case and around foot area.
