Lexmark x3550 colour all in one printer

You can download and install the Lexmark X3550 driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/h111OH. Select your operating system, download and execute the file. Follow the instructions on your computer screen.

Contact Lexmark technical support to request(for free) for the installation disk for your Lexmark X3550 printer. You may need to know your printer's serial number found on the back of the it for Lexmark documentation purposes. Thanks.

If you are trying to connect to a network printer you need to install a network printer NOT a PC install. You would have to browse for the "Remote" printer, from the CLIENT. The printer that is on the "Master" PC will have to have the printer already installed and "shared" as well, FIRST. Then you go to the remote and install a NETWORKED printer....find it on the network, and connect, it will actually get the drivers from the "Master" PC, see. Plus BOTH PC's will have to have a name password & and be on the same "Workgroup" as well. If you want to enable documents to be exchanged to print between PC's you will have to enable "Sharing" on each, Drive, or Folders as well, if you wish.

Are you installing where the colour cartridge goes?
It could be faulty ,return it or let them test it.

Most printers do not come with data cables - either USB or Parallel. You have to get one for yourself ok. About installation, for most USB printers, you don't need to attach to the pc before copying the drivers to hard disk. If you had done that already, you put back the driver cd into the drive tray and then uninstall. You'll have to connect the printer via USB cable only when prompted and allow to detect the printer and complete the installation process by itself ok. Just select the recommended installation type and it will run automatically. Good luck

Well you need to browse more deeply for supports and downloads in that site to download your driver software. You can also try www.download.com and narrow your search.

It’s not uncommon for software to mess up during installation.
Or even have a bad CD. (Please make sure you're windows XP software is up to date, run windows update service).
Since you are able to get into windows, open control panel, open add/remove programs & uninstall the Lexmark printer software. After uninstall restart the PC. Power on the printer before windows loads. See if windows runs with the printer connected & powered on. Less Its driver software. Windows should see the printer & ask for the software. (If so, it may be corrupted software). Go to Lexmark for driver software & download it.

Try reinstalling using the online driver software for the X3550 printer. If it still stops you're windows, I would suggest replacing the USB cable. If replacing the cable does not help & windows does not load, there could be something wrong with the printer.

Lexmark will suggest all of the above. You'll be three steps ahead of support. Lastly, I have come across an issue from time to time installing printers software into Windows XP systems.
(It matters not the printer model). Windows was missing basic printer files needed to operate any given printer. The fix for those systems was a complete fresh install of windows. Its suggested to never use a copied windows CD. It matters.
