Hello, Welcome to Fixya.com

If the mute is ok, you want to check if your have a cable or sat box that the mute on those are ok as well, if so then your looking at a internal issue with the TV that would involve repair.

Try this

1. unplug the tv wait 10-15 seconds then plug it back into the wall outlet.

Also

2. unplug any cable boxes or sat boxes that might be causing the issue.

If you still are having issues you might want to check it into a local repair shop near you, but take this advice for what its worth you might wind up paying more for the repair then the purchase of a nice flat panel.

Make sure if you do take it into a shop that there registered with the BBB and do not have complaints registered as those shops could end you paying more money.

Thanks for making Fixya your first choice, We can Fix most things but have solutions for everything.

No audio on Sony Wega - 7d4b4a1b-46dd-49fd-b0a7-808fad7b3ca8.jpgJust spent a few hours troubleshooting my audio. This may or may not apply to your specific model. If you are using a set top box and HDMI input to your TV, there may be two audio input jacks located near the HDMI input. Normally HD includes audio. I ran left and right audio from the set top box to the TV and the audio issue was resolved. I did not use the cable input jack on the TV as the HDMI input is located elsewhere. (See the top of the Image) Be sure to follow the other solution(s) offered here. Especially Grand Canyon Tech. This is added only if applicable to your model. Best of Luck!

No audio on Sceptre TV

I think that you missed to check its speakers. Check it. If they are found OK, the audio output section circuit should be troubleshooted.

I am trying to hook the mic up to my computer in the location for microphones and it is not working. i also tried via my tv and stereo system. it will work to receive sounds if plugged into the phones

Using a microphone with computer

To use any microphone with your computer you will need to enable it in control panel. The following instructions are for Windows XP but are broadly similar for Vista and Win7

Click START, CONTROL PANEL, SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES

Click VOICE

In Sounds & Audio Devices Properties window locate SOUND PLAYBACK box. Click the VOLUME button. Make sure that there is not a check-mark in the MUTE box against microphone in the list of devices and that the volume slider is at the top of the scale.

Make sure the MUTE ALL box isn't checked before closing the window.

Now click the VOLUME button in the SOUND RECORDING BOX. Here SELECT microphone as an input source for recording (as opposed to un-checking mute in the playback controls).

NOTE if your microphone is not listed in the 2 sets of volume controls click OPTIONS, PROPERTIES on the tool-bar and place a check against microphone in the list entitled 'show the following volume controls' and then click OK. Same applies for Internal mic.

That should be it.

To adjust audio volume generally.

Under VOLUME tab adjust Device Volume as necessary. Also (under Loudpeaker Settings) click Speaker Volume and adjust slider to suit.

You might put a check mark in the box to show the volume control on the Task Bar so you can go straight to it to make adjustments in the future.

The volume no longer goes up or down, it just stays on mute

Have you tried to click the sound/audio icon at bar in your right hand corner? Usually that's the problem with mine. I now have a HUGE problem. I deleted my audio hardware , now I have NO sound at all.

Sony grand wega 55in kdf-55a20

Its most likely an intermittent lamp. The lamp door is located behind the front panel. The front panel can be removed after loosening the two thumb wheels located on either end of the TV in the rear. Observe the light coming from the area around the lamp door. If you see that the light is going out, its the lamp. You can also access the self-diagnosis menu by using the remote control. Start with the TV off. Push the "mute", then the number 5 button, and then the volume down button followed by the power button. When the picture appears, the menu will been visable. If there is a failure with the lamp, or a fan, or many other areas in the TV there will be a number value to the right of the parameter that indicates the number of times the error has occurred.
