Rule of thumb for lawn and garden equipment ...

If it is 2 cycle - gas and oil are mixed - 50 to 1 mix. Some two cycle engines require more oil ... up to 32 to one.

It if is 4 cycle - has a fuel tank and a crank case - 30 weight oil SJ or better service rating.

If you want to become an expert on oil ... go here: http://www.bsehome.net/pdf/OIL_S_EG.PDF

And a final word ... it is always good to refer to the manufacturer recommendations when selecting lubricants. Troy Bilt (no longer manufactured by the Troy Bilt Company in Troy New York) uses a number of different engines on their procducts. What kind of oil do I need to put in the crankcase?

No oil goes into the crank case as it is a 2 stroke. The oil is premixed in the fuel at a 30-1 ratio.
The gear box takes 10w-30 se oil.

Changed engine gaskets and upper intake manifold after antifreeze mixed with the oil and plastic manifold was no good. now I fill te radiator after repair and water goes right to the crankcase and oil pan.

Some where you have lost integrity of the cooling system allowing it to enter the crankcase. If the coolant goes directly into the oil, the problem should be obvious. If you send the year, make and model I may be able to help you locate it. If it overheated, the cylinder head may have cracked.

hi

first check the oil filter from the oil tank, the oil hose, remove the oil pump and check it(especially the plastic gear inside,if it worn is because of the bearings from crankcase).Clean the holes where oil goes.

Oil come out the air cleaner

Too much crankcase pressure or the breather pipe is split/dosconnected. The crankcase breather goes into the rear of the air filter and the crankcase gasses are drawn in to the cylinder with the gas/air mixture and burned
