Lexmark 3500 wireless

Works great, but recently installed very high quality ink cartridge (but not the lexmark factory at rip off prices). First the printer makes it very difficult to print by constantly warning me it doesn't have factory ink.

Now it's just told me the colour is empty, which is just not possible, it's hardly used any of the ink.

I think lexmark has set me up so they can rip me off by making me buy massively over priced ink cartridges. Any way I can get the printer to use the ink in the non-lexmark cartridge? I bought a black and a color print cartridge that said Lexmak cartridge but the color #31 cartridge did not work in my printer. I have Lexmark x3550-4550. I went back and bought a #24 color cartridge and it works but now I have a grinding sound from the inside, I think it is a roller. What do I do?

Hi, I have the same problem. I bought a new cartrige. If I can not fix it before the new one expires, I will take the printer/scanner/fax to goodwill and never buy this brand again. This should be illegal.

Go back to the people that sold you the cartridges and ask them to find out the problem and fix it.

Lexmark does not now support or condone the use of OEM ink refills or tampered cartridges.

According to their web site you will void the warranty.

Sorry for the bad news but there is no way Lexmark can troubleshoot problems caused by third party products. Particulary with print quality problems.

Instructions for refilling cartridges on a Lexmark Prevail Pro705 printer

Lexmark S305 won't authenticate ink non brand

Lexmark does not recommend the use of refilled, re-manufactured or clone cartridges. You might not get the print quality you expect from ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark. Also, when you use off-brand inks and cartridges, there is no way for Lexmark to be sure that materials and engineering choices used by a third party will not result in poor print quality or damage to your printer.
I highly recommend that you return your third-party cartridge if you still can get a refund and purchase genuine Lexmark cartridges instead.
Here's a tip to save on ink: A 100 "standard yield" cartridge for your model has a low sales price, but contains less ink. Your best value is a 100XL "high yield" cartridge. These have a higher sticker price, but contain almost 3 times as much ink as their standard yield cousins.

For the most optimal output experience with your model, I recommends that you update your printer firmware. The firmware helps ensure that you receive the highest yields of ink available from the cartridges, which offers the greatest value and means fewer necessary cartridge replacements. Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark S300 Series Firmware Update. If more than one download is listed for your model, choose the first download in the list. If it is the wrong firmware level, an error message will tell you which firmware level is correct.

I have put compatable ink cartridges in my printer and a message comes up

Lexmark does not recommend the use of refilled, re-manufactured or clone cartridges. Not only that you might not get the print quality you expect from ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark but you'll never know if the cartridge will actually work with your printer or harm your printer.
I highly recommend that you replace your compatible cartridges with genuine Lexmark cartridges to get the best printing results.

The Lexmark S405 printer requires all cartridges to have ink in them to continue printing.

The 100/100XL cartridges are not licensed to be refilled. You can, however, refill the 100A or 100XLA cartridges available on the Lexmark website at http://www.lexmark.com. You should be aware that a refilled cartridge will not be able to report its ink level, and you might not get the print quality you expect from ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark to pass through microscopic nozzles at extremely high temperatures.

Lexmark x2600 printer; color looks great for 1st 2 inches of printing then changes; green went blue, yellow went white, red to purple.

Your cartridges may need to be cleaned. Open the Lexmark Solution Center and select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. This will force ink out through the cartridge nozzles, cleaning it from dirts and clogs. This will improve print quality on your printer. Also, make sure you are using genuine Lexmark cartridges to achieve high quality results.

Try to reseat your cartridges. Unplug and replug your printer into the power source to reset itself. If that doesn't help, try to clean your cartridges and check if print quality improves. If you're using Windows, go to Start -> Programs -> Lexmark X74-X75 -> Lexmark X74-X75 Solution Center -> Maintenance -> Clean print nozzles to fix horizontal streaks.

ADJUST THE COLOR AND PRINT SPEED You may need to adjust the color and print speed. CHECK THE LEVEL OF INK IN THE PRINT CARTRIDGES 1 From the Finder desktop, double-click the Lexmark X5400 Series folder. 2 Double-click the Lexmark X5400 Series Utility icon. 3 From the Maintenance tab, check the ink levels of the cartridges. If an exclamation point (!) appears on a cartridge, the ink level is low. Install a new cartridge. Improving print quality These are possible solutions. When I install new ink cartridges on my Lexmark P6250

Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges
