This Sony camcorder uses mini-DVDs to record and there are certain restrictions when DVD is used, it is not like videotape. For a DVD-R disc, you cannot delete video once it is recorded because this type of disc is a record once only. Depending on which other disc type you use and how it was initialized, you MAY be able to delete video. For a DVD+RW disc, or a DVD-RW disc initialized in VIDEO mode, you can delete the last scene IF you have not removed the disc and not recorded any new video. For a DVD-RW disc initialized in VR mode, you can delete anytime. And here is how:
Turn on camcorder and press PLAY. Select the video or still image tab that contains the data you want to delete. Touch EDIT. Touch DELETE. Select what you want deleted. The selected scene is marked with a checkmark. Press and hold the image on the LCD screen to confirm. Touch RETURN to go back to previous screen. Touch OK - YES. You cannot recover data once deleted. There is also a DELETE ALL to delete all video or images.

How do i delete video from my cam to clear my memory

Hi,

Just go your video list then select the video(s) you wish to delete ( see the option > delete). Otherwise you can format your handycam hard disk.

(Note : Never format your handycam hrd disk using your computer ( just delete and format your memory using touch screen on your handycam))

My SONY DCR-DVD405 Viewfinder has stopped working. When the LCD panel is closed, the viewfinder should show the view and the controls, but it is showing a blank grey screen. Please advise.

There is nothing user friendly on these, if your not factory trained on this type of repair then it should be done by someone who is. The view finder is a small LCD and is not meant to be repaired, but they can be replaced. Get an estimate and decide if you want to repair or live without it,

All is OK, only acces to the disk (miniDVD) is denied, they said in sony service that laser is out of order, and repair would cost about 300 USD!!!! gosh, I need cheaper service, or a spare laser particle

Well i would be checking on ebay for sure for parts as if you want this repair cheaper that would be your only option and it would be a do it yourself due to the complex issue here, Good luck please rate.
