This is a common problem with this model you need a new main board. You can google around to find a part number, I would recommend getting the part number from the main board in the TV to guarantee compatibility. It will need replacement. Take a flash light and point it close to the screen . do you see a picture.

You have a bad back light or inverter the powers the back light. in any rate here the unit will need a repair shop because these are hard to get to you have to dig.

i got the same model tv, and had the same problem..call direct tv and tell them you just got the new polaroid tv...i take it you got it at wallmart......anyway,call them up and tell them you want them to send you a updated remote...since the tv is so new,(came out in october of 08)...your older remote doesnt have the new code for it.

You will need 2 new convergence ICs STK392-110 also the 1.8 ohm resistor and the pico fuse usually burn with that model. the ICs are located on the small board located behind the speaker grille and access panel in front.
