Heitage crib I purchased a Heritage 3 in 1 convertable crib at k_mart . I have lost the instructions and need to convert to twin headboard. Cant figure it out looks like headboard is much wider than twin. Please help!!

That crib has been recalled. Take it to Wal-Mart for a store credit, you won't need a receipt. The company went under so there is no fix kit for the recall.

I took mine to Wal-Mart, and was issued an in-store credit for $137 on 10/19/2010. All you have to do is take in the headboard part that has the name and model # - no other parts are required.

Most convertible cribs are made to function as a standards crib, a toddler bed and a FULL size bed headboard.

If you have access to the specific model number you can go to the following link and download the user manual for the specific crib you have. The manual should explain the conversion options for the bed.

To convert your crib to a Full Size bed you will need to purchase a set of full size bed rails (hook style for headboard and foot board). You can find this at any discount mattress store, or furniture outlet, it can range in price from $39.99 - $99.99. To install the rails you will see slots with bars on the headboard/footboard, this is where the hooks on the rails slide into. There are no bolts used to secure the rails to the headboard/footboard.

Jardine enterprises does not make a wood rail kit as was shown in some of the earlier ads for the Madison line of convertible cribs, and do not waste your time ordering the rail kit from Babies-R-Us as it is simply a metal rail kit (which you may be able to get cheaper at a local furniture/mattress store).

Use the lower daybed rail between the two front posts for the foot board. Another option for the full-size conversion is to purchase the metal rails (hook style) for a headboard only and not even bother with a foot board.

Most if not all of the simplicity brand drop-side cribs have been recalled, including the Graco 8740.

According to the CPSP information the company appears to be out of business to some degree and are not providing repair kits.

If you know where you purchased the crib, check to see what their policy is regarding recalled baby products.

We had purchased ours at walmart almost 8 years ago and were able to return it to another store in a different state for a full refund last summer. They did not need a receipt received, they just needed the manufacturer label on the part that the mattress lies on.

Because ours was older, the customer service clerk did have to work hard to find the crib in their system, but once she did, it was not problem at all.

Also, the bed is made to convert to a headboard for a full size bed and so it may be a little bit wide to work with a twin sized bed.

Call Dorel @1-800-295-1980 and they will email you a copy of the Manual

I have two children and I changed their beds from the cribs to the day beds by taking the front or footboard part off.  You have to save this part because in order to change it from the day bed to a full bed, you have to buy a siderail kit, take the sides off, and attach the siderails to the headboard and footboard.  Hope this helps!
