If we have the same crib then I think I can help. I also bought the Heritage 3 in1 crib and am in the middle of converting it to a twin head board. I too found that the head board was much wider but you have to take the two side pieces that the crib parts attach to off(you will find the screws on the sides). But the problem that I am having now is once you take that off those side pieces they posed as the legs. So what Im thinking is that you have to screw the head board into the frame of the mattress. I havent gotten that far but I hope what I have done will help you. Let me know if this helped!!
