Well you have a cost/benefit analysis to do. is it worth fixing the seal, given the age and condition of the car and the expense of getting to and replacing the seal? you are going to have to separate the engine from the transmission, remove the flywheel or ring gear to get at the seal. this may require removing the tranny on a RWD vehicle or perhaps pulling the whole engine/tranny out of a FWD car.
if it is worth fixing then buy a CD repair manual on eBay for about 10 bucks, get a buddy and some beer and set aside a weekend. rent an engine hoist.
aside from lucas additives which do not work anyway, there is no magic fix for this.

No there is no internal oil seal in the tail housing.
Maybe you damaged the seal when refitting the tailshaft.. It is easy to do.. Did you grease the seal so the tailshaft wouldn't damage it upon reinsertion?

Check the oil filter housing and the cooler lines at the housing. The oil filter housing gaskets are good for no more than 15k to 30k miles if your lucky. The lines at the housing are easy to strip out when you reinstall them so take your time if you do it yourself an once you are finished and ready to start the truck, let it run for about 15 minutes and constantly check the area for leaks prior to road testing the vehicle.
