Just an FYI if anyone is having this same problem a factory reset will solve the issue.Follow the above directions... "1. Press MENU repeatedly till it seems to not respond. 2. Enter 2-6-6-3 on the remote then Enter 3. At the top, it says ENTER PASSWORD 0000 4. Enter 9-8-7-6 then Enter 5. Installer Menu comes up scroll through the options until you see "factory reset" change the value from a 0 to a 1 with the arrow keys and then power the TV off. When you turn it back on it should be reset to factory defaults.
I followed your instructions and got to the part where "Password 0000" is displayed on the screen. However at that point When I pushed the number is 9876 nothing would happen. For some reason the remote will not allow me to push in any numbers at all. And I know my batteries are good because I can turn off, turn on change inputs, work the menu button etc. any tips on how to make that part work? Thanks in advance
My friend d got an lg TV from the hotel she works at and we can't get the buttons on the TV or remote to work. It is stuck on a fuzzy screen. Anyone have any suggestions?
What if you have one with no remote control
Jims answer worked no problem thanks
The remote controls wouldn't work without the control box connected, but the factory reset wouldn't work with the box connected.
Here is what worked for me:
1. On the LST-4100A box, there is a black, removable card with an F-connector (Cable In) and a RJ-11 (Data). Unscrew the two retaining screws and remove this card. There is an antenna-type connector on the inside that will need to be disconnected from the card.
2. Connnect the control box to the TV via the serial cable (Display Control).
3. Plug in power cables to TV and control box. Turn on TV.
4. There are two lights on the control box. Make sure the "Power" light is on solid and the "Status" light is flashing quickly. If not, cycle power on both the TV and the control box.
5. Press "Menu" and hold the button until the menu disappears.
6. Quickly, press "2 6 6 3" then press "Enter". A small menu should open in the upper left.
7. Scroll down to "DBox". Change to "Off". TV will restart.
8. Disconnect the serial cable from the TV. The remote controls should now work normally with the control box disconnected.
SOURCE: LG 32lx4dc accessing the installer menu because of lock password
Dawn, The lockout is for a reason, to stop access to some content usually. The chances of finding the code are 4 million to 1. Try contactimng LG at their website and use the support button They may be able to give you a fix for the model.
They have master over ride codes that allow you to reset to a common code like 0000
