Hi I'm trying to set up a secondhand Nortel 2700 Contivity. When I connect to the Serial Port it asks for the Administrators password. I don't know the Administrator ID or password. As I don't know the Management IP address I can't reset to Factory Defaults using the WEBUI. Is there any way I can reset the Administrator ID and password to the default other than using the WEBUI to the Management IP address.

SOURCE: Nortel Contivity VPN client?

Nortel Contivity will work with the your D-Link router, however its functionality depends on the authentication type (AH will not work), NAT compatibilty mode, and disabling keep alives on the server. Contact your Network Administrator to find out how your VPN is configured. Step 1 Verify that you are using the latest version of firmware on your router. Step 2 Login to the Web Management for your router by entering its IP address (192.168.0.1) in your web browser. The default username is admin, and the password is blank. Step 3 Click the Advanced Tab to access the Virtual Server Settings. There is a list of pre-defined Virtual Server Rules towards the bottom of the page. Find the IPSec Rule. Click the pen and paper icon to edit its settings. Enable the rule, enter the IP address of the computer attempting to connect to the VPN in the Private IP field, then Apply the changes. Step 4 Create a new Virtual Server entry. Name the Virtual Server, "NortelVPN". Enter the IP address of the computer attempting to connect to the VPN in the Private IP field. For the Protocol Type, select Both. Enter 9550 for both the Public and Private Ports. Set the Schedule to always, then Apply the settings. Step 5 Access the Tools Page, then click the Misc button. Disable IPSec Pass-through, then click Apply. If the VPN Server is properly configured to work with clients behind NAT routers you should be able to connect to the VPN.

I cannot connect using serial console port (no signal / data out of serial console port). I don't have IP address of the DS4100B. I don't have its password... How can I reset it to factory default?

I am assuming you will still need console connection to do a password recovery.. however, here is the link to one password recovery doc that may help.

Nortel 1050 and BSR222 VPN Connection

1.  What you have is a "software settings" in several  locations that require "exact entries".  Without us seeing what  "entries" are being asked by the programs or what data needs to be inserted by the routers at each location, there is no way anyone could possibly solve your problem long distance.

2.  The basic generic information was supplied to you at another website you visited but obviously did not help you.  I appreciate you having the confidence by asking anyone here to guide you but I think you need to have some one physically there to fix the problem.  If someone here knows the answer and can solve this problem by all means jump in.

3. My solution is for you to look in the yellow pages for your town where you live under "networks" or "computer networks".  Some one locally should be able to come out and solve this for you.  VPN networks at this level require a "hands on" solution unfortunately and not a "cook book" answer.  Get one field wrong, you will spend days troubleshooting it.

This is the best solution for your problem in this case.  Anything else would be a great disservice to you.

Have secondhand gsm7312 and don't know username or password. How can I factory reset this unit? There is no reset button and I can't enter menus via console cable as it asks for username (not the...

Netgear FSM (and GSM) switches have an RS232 serial console port. Connect to that using Hyperterm, PuTTY, Xterm etc. at 9600-8-N-1, and power up the switch. Early in the boot process, it will give you a choice of normal operation, or the boot menu. Select the boot menu before the time runs out (usually a couple seconds), and one of the options will be to reset the switch configuration, including the password.

Nortel 1050 & BSR222 VPN Connection

If you want to have a dynamic IP at the remote site you can forget about it, I placed a support call to Nortel and they told me that even if the NAT traversal option is there in the BSR222 they do not support it!!!
I was able to use a bsr222 with a static ip accepting connection from linksys using dynamic, this works.
see some example doc at www.chbr.info/linksys_bsr222.zip
