Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28).

Install the driver

You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor's Web site.

In the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the instructions to install the driver.

If you have the CD or installer of your Network Controller you need to install it or you can provide me the make and the model of your computer so that i can send you the link for the driver.

If you have questions please let me know. Thanks for using Fixya

Microsoft Help and Support says that "Code 28 (The drivers for this device are not installed)" appears when the Windows Sound System Compatible Driver for the Windows 2000 operating system is deleted upon the upgrade to Windows XP. It's possible to repair this code.

Click on the "System" folder in the "Performance and Maintenance" folder. Click on the tab titled "Hardware." Click on the box that says "Device Manager." Click on "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers." Right-click on the device that prompts Windows XP to display Code 28 (it should be Windows Sound System Compatible Driver, also called the WDM driver). Code 28 can not be install on my pc

error code 28, means a Driver Error,

the solution is to go to the device manager,

1.) start, control panel, system, hardware, device manager,
2.) locate a device with a yellow highlight
3.) right click it and select update , follow the onscreen instructions

or
reinstall the driver using the driver cd. that came with it.

if that fails you need to go to the manufactures website for that particular device , locate the driver and download it, then install it. PS if its on the mainboard you can go to the OEM system builder you have like dell or hp , if you dont have and oem system go to the mainboad manufactures web site, Biostar and MSI.

Pci simple controller comunication not installed .The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

The "missing" device-drivers could either be:
* a dial-up modem,
* a network-card,
* some serial device, e.g., some USB (Universal _SERIAL_ Bus) hardware.

Access: http://WindowsUpdate.Microsoft.com
Click "Custom" scan
When it completes, click "Optional Hardware",
to see if Windows Update is offering a device-driver.

Cannot fix code 28 for network controller for dell1525 laptop

If you are getting a code 28 then you will need to download a new driver on another computer for the network card. If you have a wireless adapter that you can connect to the computer and your router has wireless capability then that could work as well but you will need to get a new driver on to that computer some how.

Finding the driver will be easy though. You can go to the computer's manufacturer website, or the website of the network card's manufacturer and search for it there. Shouldn't be too hard to find but if you can't find it let me know and I will get you a link.
