Necchi machine I have a Necchi machine, seems to be an Italian made, sys BU Mira and the number M360174 and it is built into a lovely sewing desk - is it worth anything?? It is green.

Finding the age of the Necchi sewing machine that you personally own doesn't take too much effort. You need the serial number and possibly the model number.

Value is very subjective. Boils down to what a buyer is willing to pay for the machine, its condition, and included accessories.

Some of the pictures on the internet make it appear that some of the machines' foot pedals may have been hardwired. Since the machine appears to be a table top drop-in model, the connection may well be under the machine.

However, here is a free dlownload of an owner's manual. Page 14 seems to show the plug-in on the motor itself.

You can go purchase one on line at Sewingpartsonline.com for $35.95 or your local sewing machine store should have. Sometimes ou can find them at Walmart also.

Vinyl will stick to the presser foot so either pit talcum powder on the vinyl or have a toilet roll on your lap and sew the toilet roll on the vinyl then peel it off

Also there are 3 or 4 Necchi Italian machine owner groups on Yahoo, I'd suggest that you join the one called Necchisewingmachineclub and then check out any posts on spare parts and see what you can glean there. Just read the group rules as often they like members to "share" information and don't like newbies to drop in and post a question then disappear. Or ask the same question on several groups (crossposting).

i repair a lot of sewing machines as a hobby .. the necchi is one of the better ones .. they are easy to use and work well .. i almost always dontate the repaired machines to places like "womens shelter" .. "home for troubled girls" or just give them to someone that has nothing or cant afford new machines ... it sometimes makes a difference in their life if someone helps them get started .. modern machines vary from really cheap junkers that somehow work to really expensive machines that do everything but are completely out of reach for many.. the old necchis are better than many new machines but no one knows that .. so typically they sell for only $20 to $50 ... but if you donate a working machine to someone it can help, then its worth it weight in gold ..
