Expresso is too large

Nancy, this setting is controlled by the settings menu. You reach that by right arrowing through the different beverages/menu selections until you select "Settings".
  • In settings, scroll to "program the amount"
  • place a cup under the spout
  • select the beverage you want to program, espresso in this case
  • select start
  • select okay when the amount of water has been used
  • the machine will remember this setting for future espressos
  • the same menu structure allows you to control the amount of coffee ground, as well as the amounts for other beverages

When I press the espresso button instead of esspreso makes a long coffe .I must ad I descaled it yesterday .

You may have accidentally changed the amount setting for your espresso shot when resetting the descale counter.

If you lost the manual you can find one here.
http://www.gaggia-usa.com/support_docs/Gaggia_Brera_Quickstart_Guide.pdf

On page 11 (with the printed number 31) you find how to change these settings:

• Place a cup under the dispensing spout.
• Hold the "espresso size" button pressed for 5 seconds to enter the programming mode; the "coffee" icon will blink quickly and the coffee will start to be brewed; the icon will flash during the whole coffee brewing cycle.
• Press the same "espresso size" button again when the amount of coffee in the cup reaches the desired level.
At this point the button "espresso size" is programmed; each time it is pressed and released, the machine will brew the same amount of coffee that was just programmed.
The same operation can be repeated for the "Lungo size" button.

Large coffee button only puts out a little bit of coffee

keep holding the button down until the display says serving size. release the button when you are happy with the amount of product. next time it will fill to the same line. someone held the button down too long and programmed it to only dispense a small amount of coffee.

Hi
Push and hold the button for the coffee you want, but hold it all the way through the process. Don't release the button until you get the amount of coffee you want for that button, then release the button. That should get you the same amount next time. You can do this for each coffee button. If that didn't fix it you might have a bad flow meter.

When I select the large size, it only dispenses a small amount. Was working fine yesterday...

This sometimes happens if you are using a pod/capsule meant for brewing espresso (lower liquid volumes). Perhaps the capsules are packed differently (ie. tighter for espresso pods, looser for coffee pods) and the machine detects these differences, but I'm not sure. On my machine (nespresso brand) there are two buttons, one for espresso (small liquid volume) and one for coffee (larger liquid volume). When I want to make a larger volume, I choose a pod appropriate for making a larger volume. These volumes are usually written somewhere on the sleeve/espresso box, or in the hand booklet that describes that lists the variety of pods offered by the company.
I hope this helps.

Hi
Try reprogramming the machine. Push and hold the button for the coffee you want, but hold it all the way through the process. Don’t release the button until you get the amount of coffee you want for that button, then release the button. That should get you the same amount next time. You can do this for each coffee button.
If that doesn’t fix it, then you might need a new flow meter.
